For those of you who don’t know what gai dan jai [Hong Kong Egglettes] is, you most likely did not grow up in the city of Hong Kong. A spherical, egg based waffle made it to the number one bestselling Hong Kong street food since its emergence in the 1950s.
Like a waffle, the gai dan jai is poured onto a hot griddle, except the one they use are very special [see image below].
