Gypsy Sport Debuts Spring 2018 Collection

Gypsy Sport debuted a very diverse collection with a diverse cast of models. It is refreshing to see a runway full of different ethnicities, skin tones, as well as shapes and sizes for a show. The collection features many colors as well as pieces reminiscent of a 90’s DIY vibe but mixed with modern brands, logos, and silhouettes. The collection is also a reflection of a modern gypsy warrior who is on top of the trends while staying true to their own aesthetic.

Many of the pieces follow the trends we have seen on other runways with exaggerated sleeve silhouettes as well as gathered ginghams and plaid. However these pieces in the Gypsy Sport collection are put together in a unique patchwork way that can only be described as bold. The experimental collection showed different patchwork techniques that included frayed ends, hardware as well as more sophisticated needlework.

In addition to the diverse cast of models, it is clear the collection took inspiration from different cultures to represent the world as a melting pot. There are motifs from the United States, Asia, the Middle East as well as South America. The collection is so different from others we have seen on runway in Paris and it is something that the fashion world should follow suit in.

The beauty was presented by Mac Cosmetics! The models were presented with natural hair textures and cultural hair styles as a nod to the inspiration as well as their ethnicity. The makeup on the models was minimal to highlight the natural beauty of each model as well as their ethnicities. Bold lip colors were a great addition to the look to unify the models and to compliment the final look.
