The creative festivities that were hosted by the Yamba Malawi Organization, raised awareness, and financial support for the African community! Some of the notable guests that came to show their support and lead by example include, Kelly Bensimon, Dorinda Medley, Young Paris and Alex and Keytt Lundqvist, and many more!
As soon as guests walked in, they were pleasantly hit with an array of bright colors from the photo-op backdrops, to the hors d’ oeuvres. and specialty cocktails that were served at stations throughout. First was the cocktail hour, which featured speciality cocktails that were magically prepared by pouring orange juice over fresh hibiscus on an elegant stand, and before your eyes the drinks transformed from orange to fuchsia! The feature of the hour was the artistic serving of the hors d’ oeuvres, which perfectly mixed the natural elements of wood, and the modern elements of metals and marble aesthetics. The delicious bites were often carried around by two people which elegantly held the long wooden struck with marble-esque pocket food holders, as guests were intrigued.
The next part of the evening was a presentation about the impactful organization that gives back to the African community. The Managing Director and Head of the US Office, Kim McCall, honored the talented Award-Recipents, and Co-Directors of the Moving Windmills, William and Olivia Scott Kamkwamba. Executive Director, Gertrude Kabwazi gave her concluding remarks about the power of making a difference, through small steps and one-by-one, and inspired the audience to financially help support their organization, which provides so much educational, and resourceful help to the African community, that it passionately serves.
The Live Auction began thanks to Comic, Seth Herzog from “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” and bids were made consistently, which lead to a successful evening for a great cause. As the perfect cherry-on-top to a productive and motivational event, DJ Questlove from the Roots played tunes that vastly ranged through all the decades, which invited everyone of all ages, to find their place on the dance floor, to celebrate the night’s success of making an impactful change in the world!
