Miami took Los Angeles last night as one of the World’s Best 50 Bars 2017 and Miami Beach’s most celebrated bar, Sweet Liberty teamed up with Flor de Cana Rum for a unique, one of a kind, pop up event experience!
Sweet Liberty was conceived and operated by award-winning bartender John Lermayer and Dan Binkiewicz along with restaurateur David Martinez. Not only does the bar have an exquisite selection of food, the drinks will literally blow your mind! My favorite was the, It’s Raining Manzanilla which is a mix of Flor de Cana 4 and 7, la guita manzanilla, strawberry and lime. It was sweet, favorable and while the rum is strong, you couldn’t taste it. Flor de Caña rum is distilled five times during its production and can be aged for up to 25 years. It is surprisingly smooth and goes down with ease. Some other favorites were the Flor on the Floor, Go to Bed Curt and The People’s Daiquiri, however I don’t believe there was a drink on the menu that wasn’t fantastic.
Hollywood’s LONO bar and restaurant gave off perfect Miami vibes as the bar is tropical themed with a tiki bar, palm tree wall paper and bartenders dressed in Hawaiian t-shirts. It is quite deceiving considering the entrance area is rather small but then the bar extends and opens up into a huge, high ceiling foyer. LONO is a necessary urban oasis, away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard.
Sweet Liberty and Flor de Cana’s team up was a success seeing as they brought a diverse group of people from all walks of life to eat, drink and dance! Yes, Los Angelenos were actually moving and grooving to the sweet and soulful sounds of the retro styled band, Patrick and the Swayzees. This band is originally from Key West, Florida and they’re style of mashing together all genres of the reminiscent 60s was the cherry on the cake.
