The next blockbuster coming from the popular franchise, Civil War (aka Avengers 2.5) has the look of Marvel at its best.
The first film of Marvel’s Phase 3 slate, Civil War should be marked down on everyone’s calendar as a must see film of 2016. For me, I was just sitting and waiting to see when we’re going to just see some sort of footage. Well, here we are. With Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the two of them brought a pleasant surprise for the audience and the world: the first trailer for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. When watching the trailer, you’ll see a bunch of familiar faces…particularly Avengers. So it’s easy to get confused and think you’re watching an Avengers 2.0 trailer. But no, at its heart this is a Captain America vs. Tony Stark story.
Following in the footsteps of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers Age of Ultron, Marvel makes sure that audiences understand what they’re in for. But honestly, how can anyone really even prepare for a movie of this magnitude? Let’s count down all the heroes we see in this trailer alone: Captain America, Iron Man, Falcon, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Hawkeye, BLACK PANTHER! And don’t forget Thunderbolt Ross from The Incredible Hulk, which I’m sure you did because most people forget about The Incredible Hulk. Civil War is full of star-power, and this is said after every trailer Marvel releases (aside from one or two films), but we may be witnessing the best Marvel film yet.
Captain America: Civil War is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Frank Grillo, Tom Holland, William Hurt, and Daniel Bruhl. Civil War will be in theaters May 6, 2016.
