Fear The Walking Dead Season 8, Episode 4 Review

Fear The Walking Dead took us a trip down memory lane as Morgan went back to his old neighborhood for the first time in nearly a decade.

But everything for Morgan is not all good memories on this episode as he is still trying to cope that he lost his wife and his son Duane at the early days of the apocalypse. What we got on this great episode is a mix of sadness and trying to overcome the feeling of guilt and Lennie James did outstanding as he put that on display.

The dynamic between Morgan, Gracie, and Mo here is great in terms on building a family bond and giving the two a story on what Morgan went through in King’s County. I also thought that the house he, Duane, and Rick Grimes used for a hideout on the first episode of the main show burning down, was the moment that I felt Morgan has finally moved on. Especially when it was Mo to put down walker Duane.

While I think there are positives on this episode, I have to put to light that the writing is what makes this episode of Fear go a few steps back when you take out the fan service moments. More so on the children. PADRE seems so heavily secured but yet Mo and Finch were able to escape without a problem. Also, since when did Mo became an “know it all” person especially in big confrontation scenes? It is beyond annoying to see and hear her give big speeches like this to living adults.

Gracie getting a walker bite was unexpected. But then again, it’s the final season. I also think that this episode did not need Dwight and Sherry, but that is just me.

With that aside, I think this is the strongest episode of Fear The Walking Dead so far in this season.
