Bryson Tiller Drops Original Song For ‘PAW Patrol’ Movie And Talks New Album

by Chantell Hayden September 8, 2023
written by Chantell Hayden

If you’ve ever talked to or been around a child then you’ve probably heard of PAW Patrol.

The Nickelodeon children’s show first premiered in 2013 and has since spiraled into one of the network’s most successful shows. From toys and merchandise to live shows, PAW Patrol has accomplished what most children’s programs could only dream of doing: world domination.

It’s in your homes, in your phones, on your TV, and now in your theatres. PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie will be making its way to the big screen at the end of this month and expect to hear some familiar voices, as well.

The film includes a celeb-packed cast and voiceovers from Taraji P. Henson, Kim Kardashian and her kids North and Saint West, Kristen Bell, Marsai Martin, and more.

Based on the beloved characters from the show, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie follows the whole gang of pups as they venture through their town of Adventure City to defeat supervillains and protect their community.

When a magical meteor crash lands in Adventure City, it gives the PAW Patrol pups superpowers, transforming them into The MIGHTY PUPS! For Skye, the smallest member of the team, her new powers are a dream come true. But things take a turn for the worse when the pups’ arch-rival Humdinger breaks out of jail and teams up with Victoria Vance, a meteor-obsessed mad scientist, to steal the superpowers and turn themselves into supervillains. With the fate of Adventure City hanging in the balance, the Mighty Pups have to stop the supervillains before it’s too late, and Skye will need to learn that even the smallest pup can make the biggest difference.

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie features all-new, original songs from Bryson Tiller, Christina Aguilera, Mckenna Grace, and Blackbear.

Turns out the puppy cops are pretty popular amongst the adults, as well.

Bryson has been MIA musically for a while now but his initial reaction to being asked to be a part of the film’s soundtrack was nothing short of excitement.

“As soon as I saw it, I was like ‘hell yeah, I’m doing this right away.’”

We chatted with Bryson about his deep love for the puppies in uniform and, of course, when he plans on gracing us with new music.

So, let’s talk about this new song that you have for the new PAW Patrol film, “Down Like That.” Could you tell me more about how this came about, when you were approached with this were you all for it or did you need convincing from your kids?

Bryson Tiller: Oh no, I was all for it right away. They didn’t even have to- They didn’t even know about it. As soon as I saw it, excuse my language, I was just like “Hell yes” I’m doing this right away.

Really? Are you a PAW Patrol fan?

Bryson Tiller: It was just more so the fact that I just always wanted to be a part of something, you know, like a kid’s TV show or movie, you know, soundtrack or whatever. I watched the first movie with my daughter a while ago when it came out, the first PAW Patrol movie. So just yeah, it was a no-brainer for me.

Could we see you doing maybe some acting or voice-overs in the future?

Bryson Tiller: Acting, voiceovers, I don’t know. Maybe, yeah maybe voiceovers. I don’t know about acting.

Well, speaking of music, we all know you’ve kind of been in and out of the music scene over the years. So, when you do drop something does it feel like an unofficial return or like a warm-up for when you do officially drop?

Bryson Tiller: Sometimes I guess, I don’t know. I like to create music. People know this about me. I like to just, kind of the way I came up in the music industry was just creating something and releasing creations to the public right away on my own time. With albums and stuff, it’s a sample clearances and all this different stuff. So, it’s not like I can just make the music and then just upload it to Apple Music myself tomorrow. I wish that I could do it that way, I think that would be better. Just trying to get used to this new thing. So anyways, when I do release music it’s not really like, “Oh, I’m gearing up for my return! It’s coming!” or anything like that. I just like to create things and share them with the world.

That’s good to know. Cause I was definitely going to ask if you were pulling a Rihanna on us. I didn’t know if we would ever going to see you again, so you know, I just had to make sure. You’re very active on Twitch, you’re a full-time father. Sometimes you’re streaming, sometimes you’re making music for films like this or you’re doing features. Like, the song you did with Diddy recently. Or you might even drop a mini EP on SoundCloud. What can we expect from you in the future, musically? If you can talk about it, or if you’d like to talk about it!

Bryson Tiller: Yeah, absolutely I can talk about it. I’m releasing an album soon, I’ve been working on it for some time now. I finished it, well at least I thought I finished it earlier this year. I would say I finished the first phase of the album, like just something to listen to, dissect, and see what’s missing.

So, the first phase of the album, I finished it. Now I’m preparing to go back to LA to really finish this thing so I can release it on time for next year. Yeah, I’m super excited about it. You mentioned the Rihanna thing, I actually do plan on taking a bit of a hiatus after this album just to get closer to my kids and do a lot of other passions that are important to me.

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie is in theaters September 29th. “Down Like That” is out now. Watch the lyric video below.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 4: A Thrilling Climax to an Epic Saga

by Tamerras Leonard June 26, 2023
written by Tamerras Leonard

Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping ride as the highly anticipated fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is set to hit screens on June 30th. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the return of this gripping series, co-produced by Amazon Studios, Paramount Television Studios, and Skydance Television. Led by the talented John Krasinski, Jack Ryan’s character faces his most perilous mission yet, delving into a web of both foreign and domestic enemies while uncovering shocking internal corruption that threatens the very heart of the nation.

The Plot

In this climactic installment, CIA Acting Deputy Director Jack Ryan, brilliantly portrayed by John Krasinski, embarks on a relentless pursuit of truth alongside his trusted team members. Joining him is Wendell Pierce as James Greer and Michael Kelly as Mike November as they delve into a series of enigmatic black ops. However, little do they realize that their investigation will lead them to an unexpected convergence of a drug cartel and a terrorist organization, exposing a nefarious conspiracy that hits close to home. As the stakes escalate, Jack Ryan’s unwavering belief in the system he’s dedicated his life to defending will be pushed to the limits.

New Faces, New Thrills

Season 4 introduces two captivating characters portrayed by Michael Peña and Louis Ozawa. Peña takes on the role of Domingo Chavez, a highly skilled individual with a unique approach to accomplishing his goals. He adds an intriguing layer of mystery, leaving viewers guessing his true allegiance until the very end. Ozawa breathes life into the character of Chao Fah, a complex entrepreneur navigating the gray areas of morality. Balancing his desire for a better life for his family with his involvement in the shadowy world, Chao Fah becomes a catalyst for intense drama.

The interactions between these new characters and Jack Ryan promise to captivate audiences throughout the season. Peña sheds light on his character’s dynamic, stating, “Mine has deep military training, and he has a certain way of doing things and getting things accomplished, which is much different than Jack Ryan. You don’t know if he’s with them. You don’t know what’s going to happen in the end. It just keeps you guessing until the end.” Ozawa adds depth to his character’s motivations, drawing inspiration from Robert De Niro’s iconic role in Casino, emphasizing his ambition and ability to outsmart his adversaries.

Powerful Performances

Betty Gabriel joins the cast as Elizabeth Wright, the formidable CIA Acting Director, while Abbie Cornish reprises her role as Cathy Mueller, Jack Ryan’s love interest. Gabriel describes the evolving relationship between Elizabeth and Jack as they navigate a complex and treacherous world, stating, “Elizabeth and Jack start off the season as great collaborators and cohorts. They are thrown into this messy situation right off the bat, and they’ve got their hands full. But it’s really great to have gotten to this point where they are able to trust each other, and they get each other.” Cornish adds a touch of normalcy to Jack Ryan’s life as Cathy and Jack commit to a genuine relationship amidst the chaos.

The challenges faced by these characters are the backbone of the thrilling storyline. Cornish emphasizes Cathy’s role in grounding Jack, providing a sense of stability amidst the tumultuous events. She remarks, “Cathy has always been a very grounding force for Jack. She’s the person who grounds him in the world and reminds him of what really matters. So she’s always been an important character in that way.”

An Epic Journey

With Season 4 of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, audiences can expect an enthralling conclusion to an epic journey. The series pushes the boundaries of the spy-thriller genre, combining heart-pounding action with complex character dynamics. As John Krasinski eloquently puts it, “We really wanted to build a season that was a little more character-driven, really focusing on what makes Jack Ryan tick.” So mark your calendars for June 30th as Jack Ryan returns to our screens, ensuring an unforgettable viewing experience filled with suspense, action, and thought-provoking storytelling. Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey alongside Jack Ryan, where the fate of nations hangs in the balance.

Our favorite moments from the interview
  • Michael Peña: “Mine has deep military training, and he has a certain way of doing things and getting things accomplished, which is much different than Jack Ryan. You don’t know if he’s with them. You don’t know what’s going to happen in the end. It just keeps you guessing until the end.”
  • Louis Ozawa: “He [Chao Fah] wants his family to be better. He’s got this fierce, intense loyalty. And he’s the type of person that loves his family more than anything.”
  • Betty Gabriel: “Elizabeth and Jack start off the season as great collaborators and cohorts. They are thrown into this messy situation right off the bat, and they’ve got their hands full. But it’s really great to have gotten to this point where they are able to trust each other, and they get each other.”
  • Abbie Cornish: “Cathy has always been a very grounding force for Jack. She’s the person who grounds him in the world and reminds him of what really matters. So she’s always been an important character in that way.”

Bel Powley Stuns in New Nat Geo Series ‘A Small Light’

by Chantell Hayden May 8, 2023
written by Chantell Hayden

Miep Gies was a hero that, up until recently, wasn’t well known. Her fearlessness led her to step up and help the Frank Family during WWII. Now, Nat Geo is telling Miep’s story.

National Geographic’s limited drama series A Small Light premiered two episodes on May 1st. It follows the extraordinary life story of Miep Gies, a charismatic young woman living in Germany during WWII. Once her home transforms in to a country controlled by dictator Adolf Hitler, Miep and her boss Otto Frank work together to escape in to hiding with their loved ones.

We all know the story of Anne Frank. The story of the young Jewish girl hiding in the midst of Hitler’s reign in Nazi Germany has been told many times over, its most famous depiction being what we now know as The Diary of Anne Frank. That may not have been possible without the help of Miep, who kept the diary entries in her desk after Anne’s arrest.

Played by Bel Powley, (The Diary of Teenage Girl, The Morning Show) Miep was also a young woman with a normal life until she wasn’t.

After taking up a job with Otto Frank, Anne’s father, Miep quickly finds herself entangled in a plan to help hide the Frank Family in the secret annex about Otto’s business. Despite protests from those close to her, Miep, along with her husband Jan, make the courageous decision to stand up against hatred and do everything in their power to protect her boss and his family.

The show stars Billie Boullet as Anne Frank, Ashley Brooke as Anne’s older sister Margot, Amira Casar as their mother Edith and Liev Schreiber as Otto. On screen, the four perfectly encapsulate the close familial dynamic between the Franks.

Anne is passionate and outspoken while her sister is the complete opposite. Margot is meek and doesn’t like to rock the boat but when her family needs her the most, she steps up to the plate with no hesitation. A Small Light shares a modern take on history as we know it and shows how just a little bit of bravery can go a long way.

We talked to the cast and showrunners Tony Phelan, Joan Rater and Susan Fogel about the inspiration behind the show and how they were able to accurately portray Miep and the Frank family’s stories.

A Small Light airs every Monday at 9 PM EST on National Geographic and next day on Hulu and Disney+.

The Stranger Things Experience Brings Hawkins To Atlanta

by Chantell Hayden November 16, 2022
written by Chantell Hayden

Hawkins is on a global wide tour. The Stranger Things Experience has officially landed in Atlanta, GA after opening in NYC and San Francisco earlier this year. The beloved Netflix series is now paired with an exciting hour-long walk through of Hawkins, Indiana.

We all know the Stranger Things kids are no stranger to danger and if you’ve ever wanted a firsthand look at the chaos, then this is your chance. Follow Max, Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Erica through Hawkins as they try to defeat Hawkins biggest villains.

Without giving out any spoilers, fans are invited to interact with characters at Hawkins notoriously corrupt science lab, solve mysteries through different challenges and enjoy food and drinks inspired by the show in Hawkins very own Starcourt Mall.

Guests are thrown back to the 80’s where leg warmers and tacky windbreakers are the norm, and Scoops Ahoy employees walk around (adorably) interacting with guests in their iconic sailor uniforms.

Vintage arcade video games like Joust and Dig Dug line the walls of Palace Arcade, and of course there are plenty of opportunities for photo-ops in some. Old-fashioned photo booths. Guest can even explore Will Byer’s living room and then sit and enjoy a drink at The Upside, a neon-themed bar with specialty drinks and displays with real props and costumes from the show.

And it wouldn’t be a Stranger Things adventure without having to run for your lives through the woods at some point.

We got to chat with Netflix’s Marketing Producer Iris Arias about her role as a curator and how the live experience went global.
