Sony Hall buzzed with excitement as guests gathered to see Malan Breton’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Garden of a Thousand Tomorrows on Sept. 13. Marking Breton’s farewell to New York after three decades, the runway served as a signature send-off before he embarks on his next chapter in Rome.
The evening kicked off on a cinematic note with a film directed by Breton and shot in London—the city where he learned tailoring. Honored with two London Fashion Film Festival nominations, the piece transports viewers into Garden of a Thousand Tomorrows, exploring themes of memory, healing, and transition. With a King Seiko watch marking the passage of time, the film delivers a clear message: every second offers a fresh start.
From there, the runway show began. The collection debuted with a model wearing a striking electric blue fringe coat, white pants splashed with colorful paint, and platform heels, setting a lively tone as the fringe swayed with every step. Variations of blue swept across the stage, from a flowing turquoise dress and a sharply tailored aqua suit to a pale blue polka dot gown with a dramatic train.
Minimalism took a back seat as vibrant colors and luxurious silks dominated the catwalk. Models walked in rich pink gowns, chartreuse tailoring, and a fiery red leather set accessorized with sky-high heels. One standout look featured a dramatic red fringe outfit, paired with a matching crimson wig. Softer pink gowns evoked a sense of Marie Antoinette-style extravagance, with oversized floral and feathered headpieces adding to the collection’s theatrical take on the garden.

Following the show, Malan Breton stepped onto the runway in a soft green jacket and denim trousers to wave an emotional thank-you to the crowd. Music icon Crystal Waters then took over the stage in a sleek, patterned dark suit. The room erupted as her 1991 house anthem “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)”—famous for its “la da dee, la da da” hook that went viral on TikTok—pulsated through the venue. Flanked by two backup dancers in black-and-white argyle sweater vests, Waters delivered a high-energy performance that reached its peak when the dancers lifted and spun her high above their heads to wild applause.
