Mario Kart racing, flash mob scenes, and a love triangle (or square?) for the ages: It does sound like “The Kissing Booth 3” is a “surreal” conclusion to the beloved YA Netflix series, so it’s no wonder star Meganne Young wants to reflect on the five-year journey to make the three films.
Meganne has appeared in The CW’s Supernatural, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Starz’s Black Sails, and the award-winning National Geographic series, Saints and Strangers. But to Netflix lovers, the South African-born star is most recognizable as Rachel in The Kissing Booth franchise.
“It still feels surreal in so many ways and I’m continuously grateful for this ride,” Meganne told The Knockturnal. “I think I’ve become a lot more confident in myself, a lot more settled, and I would say the same for Rachel.”
The summer-centric film follows Elle (Joey King) as she decides to attend college either with her boyfriend (Jacob Elordi) or with her best friend (Joel Courtney), whom Rachel (Young) is dating. “I can absolutely relate to both characters,” Meganne explained of the predicament of long-distance relationships. “It’s not for the faint of heart. You learn a lot about the importance of good communication.”
As for what’s next in Meganne’s life now that she’s kissed The Kissing Booth farewell, she stayed coy. “I have a few things in the pipeline but I’m not able to share just yet,” Meganne hinted. “Hopefully soon!”
“The Kissing Booth 3” is now streaming on Netflix.
