Exclusive: Omari Hardwick, Terry Crews and Steven Yeun give inside look into ‘Sorry to Bother You’ [Video]

The Knockturnal’s OJ Williams sits down with ‘Sorry to Bother You’ stars Omari Hardwick, Terry Crews and Steven Yeun.

While at the premiere of Sorry to Bother You, The Knockturnal’s OJ Willaims got the chance to sit down with Omari Hardwick (Power), Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) to talk about all about their new film.

To get things started The Knockturnal asked the stars how different it was for them to do a project like Sorry to Bother You, as opposed to their current popular television series.

Hardwick described the experience and said that it important to “remember TV is so there, people are watching you on Sunday night, on Saturday night, on Tuesday night, on their couch and in whatever garb they’re in. So they feel so close to you, but little do they know in reality that your process of creating these characters that they’re falling in love with partly that process is out of you being able to play other characters”. Hardwick concluded by saying that doing a film like Sorry to Bother You is “always a fun thing” and that it gives them a chance to “break away and remember why we got into storytelling”.

The Knockturnal was also interested in the costume design in Sorry to Bother You, and asked the stars if they had any say when it came to what they wore in the film.

Yeun: We did but Deirdra (lead costume designer) is incredible. I remember dressing during those dressing sessions and I was like, ‘I think you might win something’. Incredible work. Boots (the director) had a really clear vision and she wanted to fulfill that vision, but also she just brought stuff where you’re like, ‘this is perfect’.

Crews: In a movie that had a micro-budget like this did and now you’re forced into creativity. Its always more interesting, and you get the best out of everyone, and Deirdra just killed it.

Yeun: Because the costuming and people are so large and big and loud, that you were like ‘wait a minute this doesn’t make…’ but then it normalized everybody. So then you’re just in that world.
