We got a chance to speak with Hope about starring in “The Republic of Sarah”, check out our interview below!
The Knockturnal: How does it feel starring in the new CW show “The Republic of Sarah”?
Hope Lauren: Working on “The Republic of Sarah” truly feels like a dream come true. I’ve wanted to be a part of a project like this for as long as I can remember. Getting to work on it with such a lovely group of people has been better than I could have ever imagined.
The Knockturnal: What were some of the challenges of having a big role in the show?
Hope Lauren: I’d say the biggest challenge of having a big role on a show like this was building up the stamina to access such a wide range of emotions on a daily basis. I’ve worked tolling jobs but never one where you have to “bare your soul” so frequently, which has always been my dream. But I had to learn on the job how to sustain that level of vulnerability and I was so lucky to have endlessly talented castmates setting brave examples.
The Knockturnal: What resonates with you about the character of Corinne?
Hope Lauren: I really love everything about Corinne, but the thing that hits home for me, is her tendency to underestimate herself. In this season we get to watch this character go from second guessing her own abilities, to finding the courage to step into her power. I aspire to that level of bravery.
The Knockturnal: You are also in “The Forever Purge” coming this summer. Can you talk about your experiences shooting that film?
Hope Lauren: Shooting The Forever Purge was so exciting! The entire cast and crew was so welcoming and lovely. The director Everardo really gave me permission to go big, which is always the most fun.
The Knockturnal: What is coming next for you?
Hope Lauren: I’ve written a play and I’m working on a new draft. I’d love to put that up as soon as theaters are open again!
Check out “The Republic of Sarah” on The CW on June 14th!
