Exclusive: Sacha Jenkins & Ty James Discuss Rick James Doc B*tchin’ [Video]
September 3, 2021 Showtime premieres the Rick James documentary Bitchin’: The Sound and Fury of Rick James. The documentary was directed by Sacha Jenkins and executive produced by Ty James.
Bitchin’: The Sound and Fury of Rick James explores not only Rick’s journey to becoming a cultural icon but the challenges within his life that molded the man behind the figure. Rick James was a pioneer of the funk rock genre and has left an imprint on music forever through hits like Ghetto Life and protegees such as Prince and Tina Marie. However, his journey to musical success and finding his voice within the industry was one paved with trauma, substance abuse, and the historical changes surrounding him such as the Vietnam war and the fight for Black liberation through expression.
With Rick James’s legacy being intertwined with pop culture and the funk genre his larger than life persona always had the potential to overshadow his musical contributions even after his death. His personal struggles were analyzed by the public and inspired comedy skits, speeches, and more. The documentary in many ways brings viewers back to Rick James the artist and the human and pulls them away from the persona.
With Ty James, Rick’s daughter, and Sascha Jenkins working together, audiences are able to view the full image of who Rick was, what he loved, and the people that were a part of his life. The documentary explores Rick’s childhood in Buffalo, his activism, his determination, and includes interviews from his daughter Ty, his peers, and more.
On Monday, August 30, 2021, director Thomas Verrette held a VIP screening of his new documentary Zero Gravity at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. Zero Gravity is a documentary that follows a diverse group of intelligent middle schoolers from San Jose, California, on their journey to competing in a nationwide satellite coding tournament at the International Space Station.
Throughout the course of the film, Zero Gravity highlighted three incredible students: Carol Gonzalez, an 11-year-old Mexican-American with a big heart and even bigger dreams of becoming a robotics engineer; Advik Gonugunta, a 10-year-old Indian-American with a natural inclination for coding and a fascination with the tech world; and Adrien Engelder, an 11-year-old American with a passion for all things under the sea and climate change prevention, with a drive to become a marine biologist.
These three amazing children and their coach Tanner Marcoida, a first-time teacher of the Zero Robotics middle school program, shared their intimate and personal journey into space with the audience. There were tears, there was laughter, and a lot of hard work as these three led their California team into the Zero Robotics finals by programming their SPHERES satellites.
Several real-life astronauts added to the educational element of this breathtaking emotional journey — Jack D. Fischer, Cady Coleman, and Steve Smith — lent their experience and expertise to this fascinating documentary.
Zero Robotics is a yearly competition in which thousands of students across the world compete in the ISS Finals

performed by real astronauts in orbit. The mission behind this incredible program is to inspire a new generation of great minds by giving them access to space at middle school and high school levels. If you are looking for a touching, heartfelt, good feels but immersive educational documentary, Zero Gravity would be a fabulous choice.

Exclusive: Kristen Bell & Kirby Howell-Baptiste Talk ‘Queenpins’ [Video]
Have you ever felt flooded with guilt for immediately unsubscribing from a mailing list after utilizing the coupon code that you got for subscribing to their mailing list?
If the answer is yes then expect to experience a rollercoaster of emotions while watching Kristen Bell and Kirby Howell-Baptiste in Queenpins. Queenpins is based on a real-life multimillion-dollar criminal couponing bust that happened in Phoenix, Arizona. (Kirby’s got love for Phoenix, literally! Watch the interview to find out why. ?)
It was a brazen scheme. $25 million in counterfeit coupons. Can they get away with it?
Kristen Bell tells The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield, this is one of those unique films where you actually end up rooting for the good girls gone bad. She explains, “What excited me so much about the movie was, it is a dream come true to receive a script that the cover page says, ‘Based on true events.’ Because, you know, humanity is often stranger than fiction.”
“By the time they start their illegal empire, you are 100% on the side of the criminals and I think that’s rare that a movie can accomplish that.”
Both certified saints, Kirby and Kristen fess up to teenage naughtiness! “Have you ever taken anything that doesn’t belong to you?” Asks Kinsey, “Yes, not from another person!” insists Kirby. “No, but like, in high school… for sure,” admits Kristen.
“I guess, maybe, because I’m so scared of breaking the rules in real life, that I kind of like doing movies about breaking the rules,” Kristen tells The Knockturnal.
Kirby and Kristen talk Queenpins, Dateline, and dance contests in the interview above. Enjoy!
Queenpins stars Kristen Bell, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Bebe Rexha, Dayo Okeniyi, Joel McHale, Paul Walter Hauser, and Vince Vaughn, and premieres in theaters on September 10th, 2021.

If the answer is yes then expect to experience a rollercoaster of emotions while watching Bebe Rexha in Queenpins. Queenpins is based on a real-life multimillion-dollar criminal couponing bust that happened in Phoenix, Arizona. Bebe plays Tempe Tina, a hardcore hacker that helps Kristen Bell and Kirby Howell-Baptist with their coupon scheme. We probably haven’t seen a hacker this hot since Angelina Jolie in… well… Hackers!
Bebe talked Tempe Tina to The Knockturnal‘s Kinsey Schofield, “Playing this character, she is extremely, like, in your face. She’s all about the business. She’s not trying to waste time, she’s trying to just get straight to the money. Make her money. Do her thing and move right along. That’s what I loved about this character. She’s just super strong, super kick-ass, and it kind of reminds me of the people I was surrounded by in New York. And you know, I’m from New York too. It’s just that energy that I love, so yeah, I love playing a badass chick!”
While Tempe Tina might an identity thief, Bebe likes to play by the rules! “Have you ever stolen something?” asked Kinsey, “Probably when I was younger. I think I stole gum or something from the store and my mom freaked out and like made me bring it back. You know when you were a baby and you would just grab,” admits the award-winning musician. “Other than that, not really! I’m too much of a scaredy-cat to steal something!” “You’re a good girl!” Kinsey reiterates,
