On June 14, the Tribeca Film Festival presented “Tribeca X” at Spring Studios. The day-long event featured leading voices in advertising and entertainment. Headliners included keynote Diane von Furstenberg in conversation with Seth Meyers, GE’s Linda Boff, and General Motors’ Alan Wexler. Tribeca X announced their award winners as well. The event celebrated the intersections of entertainment and advertising. Tribeca Film Festival had a similar mission.

Thaddeus O’Sullivan’s The Miracle Club took over twenty years to make from the start of the project’s development, and it was well worth it. Set in 1967, the film focuses on the lives of three close friends from a tough neighborhood in Dublin, Ireland. It revolves around Lily, (Maggie Smith) Eileen, (Kathy Bates), and Dolly (Agnes O’Casey). The women share a deep bond that transcends generations as they navigate the challenges of living in Ballyfermot, a resilient and tight-knit community.
Manhattan’s Spring Studios was full of excitement last week as the premiere of Bad Like Brooklyn Dance Hall was unveiled, complete with an immersive performance after the showing of the film. Shaggy’s highly anticipated documentary, that explores the emergence of dancehall in New York City during the ’80s and ’90s, made it’s debut on Friday at The Indeed Theater. The film showcases the music, dancing, and vibrant culture brought by Jamaican immigrants, and its fusion with the burgeoning hip-hop scene.
