After days of doing promotion around New York City for his latest album “Father of Asahd” (including an appearance on MTV Presents: Khaled-Con), DJ Khaled capped off the celebration with a release party hosted by Tidal and Dussé at Jay Z’s 40/40 Club last night (May 17th).
“When I was a kid I knew that I would have so many so many blessings if I have a clean heart, a clean soul and have gratitude for life. The only reason why I’m telling you this is stay focused on your vision, stay focused on your path, don’t ever give up, don’t ever settle for less and always move positive.” DJ Khaled said as he took to the DJ booth to speak to those in attendance offering them words of encouragement to continue to pursue their dreams. Khaled also took a moment to pay tribute to Nipsey Hussle, who was killed in March and is featured on the album on the song “Higher”. Khaled and co-producers, and writers of the song will donate 100% of proceeds from the song to Hussle’s two children Emani and Kross.
Father of Asahd which is DJ Khaled’s eleventh album also features appearances from Cardi B, Chris Brown, Travis Scott, Rick Ross, J. Balvin, John Legend, Post Malone and Meek Mill. Upon going live on iTunes Friday, the album quickly shot to number one on both iTunes Overall Top Albums and Top Hip Hop/Rap Albums charts. Khaled will also appear as a special musical guest on the season finale of Saturday Night Live (May 18th).
TIDAL members unable to attend his doc premiere at The Apollo will be able to watch it exclusively on TIDAL as well as tune into Khaled’s live CRWN interview on TIDAL.com/DJKhaled.
