Urban Fitness 911, a Los Angeles non-profit organizationΒ wasΒ created to address the disparity of academic skills, health and fitness among teenagers and young adults in low income communities, collaborated with artistsΒ deadmau5,Β SOFI, theΒ voice and writer behind deadmau5 singles βSofi Needs A Ladderβ and βOne Trick Ponyβ, andΒ Tommy LeeΒ from MotleyΒ CrΓΌeΒ onΒ January 15th, 2016 at the King Drew Magnet Golden Eagle School inΒ Compton, CA.
deadmau5, Tommy Lee and Sofi spoke withΒ Urban Fitness 911Β students about the importance of perseverance and not losing sight on their dreams. Additionally, they discussed their success within the music industry and how they were able to overcome difficult times in their lives in order to create profitable businesses and personal success. Famed entertainment attorney, Dina LaPolt and artist and performer Sofi, joined the panel by sharing real life stories about the ups and downs of the music industry.
The eager students asked various questions, some serious, some funny, βMy first passion was computer programming, which eventually led me to create music.β deadmau5 added. βI believe being drug free contributed to a lot of my success.β
One student asked Tommy Lee how many times heβs fallen down and gotten back up? βToo many times to count, I just keep the faith and keep moving forward,β Tommy Lee explained.
With Urban Fitness 911, Joel, Tommy, Dina and Sofi were able to vocalize one of their goals which is in alignment with the organizationβs ultimate success – aiming to change the lives of Los Angeles youth.
Founder Veronica Everett-Boyce, founded Urban Fitness 911 three years ago because she believes that no oneβs situation is alike, and every person deserves a chance to be successful.
