Last night was day 2 of Swizz Beatz‘ No Commission Art & Hip Hop event in the South Bronx.
With a weekend full of performances and art, last night did not disappoint. From Thursday August 11th to Sunday August 14th Swizz Beatz is taking over/has taken over the South Bronx and brought his passions back to where they all began. As a Bronx native Swizz has long desired to regenerate the birthplace of hip hop and graffiti and has done so by collaborating with Bacardi and The Dean Collection. The No Commission exhibition has provided artists with free space and 100% of the profit with #nocommission going towards a third party. Artists are essentially able to showcase their work without paying a commission. While each day features a different slew of artists, last night included performances from Swizz of course, Young Thug, Fabolous and surprise guest DMX. Young Thug previewed tracks from his new mixtape “Jeffrey” and brought the crowd to a new level of hype before Angie welcome Fab onstage. As Fab threw it back with some of his classics, Swizz hopped into the crowd to kick it with the fans. As people began to head out, Swizz casually announced that DMX would shortly be taking the stage. Other celebrities in attendance included Ashley Graham and Carlos Boozer.

Whether you were a VIP, Press or a general visitor, Swizz ensured everyone had a good time with free drinks throughout the event, featuring signature Bacardi cocktails. There was also a variety of food trucks present as many people spent the entire evening at No Commission. To top it all off there was even a ferris wheel to add to the fair ground aesthetic of this medium size event. The artwork was beautiful, thought-provoking and engaging with painting, sculptures, installations and films showcased throughout the venue. Curators were present to discuss the artists’ works and many pieces had already been sold by Day 2. The party continues tonight with Q-Tip, Pusha T and Alicia Keys.
