Enter BLACK NYC where guests are immersed in a euphoric frenzy of underground music and art.
On March 31, for one night only MATTE brought the underrated music event, BLACK to life. Guests didn’t find out where the event was until day of. We later learned the undisclosed warehouse was Avant Gardner. The moment I walked into the main stage area called The Sanctuary, I could see lights curated by Cocolab. “The White Canvas” was beaming down to the sound of the music and shone on dancing bodies.
The main stage housed renowned German DJ Dixon for a majority of the night. Whereas the second stage, The Chamber, had a performance by Frank Ocean’s producer, Nolife, Veronica Vasicka, and Jubilee.
Inside it was packed with all different kinds of NYC night crawlers who were ready to dance their worries away to amazing house and techno music. One highlight of the night was the amazing “One Ton Tank” with a person inside floating to the flashing lights which was made possible by New York Sunshine.
Some notable appearances in the crowd were Rita Ora, Binx Walton, Chloe Wise and more.
BLACK NYC helped bring our senses to life with the art that was created by Symrin Chawla, lights by Tavares Strachan and scent by Folie à Plusieurs x Lucas Sieuzac. After an amazing non-stop dance party until 4:30 am, the nightcrawlers left with a memory of EDM history.
The BLACK event has come a long way since it was first founded in NYC. The dark party brought together those who wish to dance the winter blues away. If you want another event similar to look forward to, MATTE will bring you its sister Full Moon Festival over the summer in NYC.
