Alicia Vikander and Eddie Redmayne have both been recent break outs in Hollywood with Ex Machina and The Theory of Everything, respectively. It’s wonderful to get to see two actors of such caliber on the screen together, especially when it’s for such an interesting film. The Danish Girl follows the newlywed couple of Gerda Wegener (Vikander) and Einar Wegener (Redmayne) as Gerda uses Einar as a model. However, as Redmayne begins to assume the role of Lilly, the girl in Vikander’s paintings, more often. He begins to believe that is his true body, not the one of a man he’s been given. The interesting true story is directed by Academy award winner Tom Hooper (Les Miserables, The King’s Speech) and looks to enthrall audiences with an original story this Fall.
The Focus Features film will be premiering at the Venice Film Festival and be released on November 27, 2015. Alexandre Desplat did the music and the supporting cast includes Ben Whishaw, Sebastian Koch, Amber Heard and Matthias Schoenaerts. Working Title, Pretty Pictures, Revision Pictures and Senator Global Productions produced the film.
