The Kanye West collaborator released his new music video this past week.
Chance the Rapper released the music video for his single “Angels” last Thursday, April 7th. The song, featuring Saba, is a upbeat ode to his Chicago roots. The song, released in October 2015, is a standalone release.
The video features the rapper soaring through the sky in an aviator’s uniform complete with goggles, gloves, and a Chicago White Sox cap. Chance eventually lands on a subway car where, down below, Saba and company dance and freestyle on a subway car to his lyrics. The video combines real footage with frequent hints of animation. Later, Chance and Saba freestyle, dab, and nae-nae in the streets of Chicago.
In addition to “Angels,” the rapper also released the song “Somewhere In Paradise” in December of 2015 following an appearance on Stephen’s Colbert The Late Show. “Somewhere In Paradise” features R&B veterans Jeremih and R. Kelly. The rapper was also featured on Snakehips’s hit single “All My Friends” with singer Tinashe. The music video for “Angels” perhaps teases a new mixtape for the rapper.
Chance the Rapper rose to prominence in the early 2010s. The rapper gained widespread recognition after the release of his second mixtape Acid Rap in 2013. The “All My Friends” rapper has worked with accomplished artists such as Childish Gambino, Kanye West, and Lil B. Most recently, Chance worked with West to develop his 2016 LP Life of Pablo.
