Vibrant brushstrokes and neon lettering make for an art piece that invokes all your senses
Brian Kaspr has recently debuted his latest piece called ‘Dream Home’ at Colony. This piece takes remnants pulled from unassuming homes and creates an extraordinary art piece that examines America’s larger throwaway culture. Dream Home is a rebellion against the detail and structural rigidity and explores concepts of color, form, and lettering through abstraction and destruction. At the start of this project, the house was seen as a blank canvas. In the first four days, Kaspr and his team then covered every square inch of this house with his trademark neon brushstrokes and paintsplatters. And in the last three days, Kaspr decided to unravel the work done. ‘Dream Home’ lives in a state of in-between, thought to be a type of fever dream experience where you can witness a house in a state of limbo. The exhibit is meant to demonstrate two states of the home while also showcasing the in-between of it – a picture of a suburban landscape while also creating the image of a new home that is erected in its place for the next homeowner.
‘Dream Home’ by Brian Kaspr will run from November 10th through November 30th and can be seen at Colony’s Showroom at 324 Canal Street on the 2nd floor.
