Director and producer Benny Boom teamed up with Cash Money CEO, Birdman to help bring to life the new film, Tazmanian Devil.
Featured at the American Black Film Festival, the movie Tazmanian Devil is written and directed by new filmmaker Solomon Onita, Jr. and executive produced by Benny Boom and Birdman. The movie merges African culture and African American culture as it follows a Nigerian immigrant, Dayo (played by Abraham Attah), who moves in with his religious father while struggling to balance his desire to join a college frat and bonding with his dad.
As Boom and Onita share ties being members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Boom recognized how important the storyline was from the moment he first read the script. The producer knew he wanted to be a part of this project and bring Birdman on to both help bring Onita’s vision to life.
In our interview, Boom discussed the production of the film, working on music video sets to TV and film sets, pledging Alpha Phi Alpha, and helping young directors through his mentorship program. Check out the full conversation above! Tazmanian Devil is to stream now on Amazon Prime and iTunes.
