If you were anything like me growing up, you were tuning in to 90s sitcom “Sister Sister” any chance you’d get. I naturally would watch the reruns after school, and now that it’s on Netflix, I very much had to binge watch it once it was available.

From the moment Adam Driver hit the big screens I believe everyone knew that there was something special about him. I am not talking about looks, but rather the story telling and the deep desire to understand each character he plays.
Every year The New York Latino Film Festival curates a special line up of versatile films in honor of celebrating culture and of course the love of film. This year the festival happens to fall on the same month as Hispanic Heritage month, which makes it a double celebration.
The NYLFF kicked off the celebration with the award winning film “Story Ave” directed by Aristotle Torres. “Story Ave” is a film that not only won the SXSW as the best narrative feature special jury award, but it caught the attention of Oscar and Grammy awards winner Jamie Fox.
We all know Jamie for his humor, insanely talented vocals, and award winning acting skills. With Jamie backing “Story Ave” as a producer, just know you are in for a ride.
The cast is filled with massive talent like Luis Guzman, Asante Blackk, Cassandra Freeman, Melvin Gregg, and so much more. The film is set in Bronx, New York. It follows a visual artist teen, played by Asante Blackk, whose brother unfortunately passes away. The passing of his brother affects him severely which lands him in the wrong crowd. Without giving you any spoilers just know that this film may sound discouraging, but it is the complete opposite. It is a film that rewards the heart with happy tears and encouragement of the soul.
If you need some encouragement, make sure you check out the film now and celebrate Hispanic Heritage month.
There is a joy and overall happiness that is applied to our energy when we watch Golden Globe winner Danny DeVito. From “Taxi” to “Sunny In Philadelphia” his range is a split between corky and eccentric in all the best ways.

Vanessa is the child of hip hop legend Joseph Simmons aka Rev Run and is playing the role of Tammy, an r&b singer in the “Deadly Entanglement”
Believe it or not, “No Hard Feelings” was inspired by a Craigslist AD.
The Tribeca Film Festival was extra special this year because we were blessed with the premiere of “The Blackening”.
