I had the spine-chilling pleasure of attending the event on Friday, October 27th, at the Nightingale Plaza in Los Angeles. Let me tell you, it was a night to remember!

Presented by MADE Special and VIP Nightlife, the MAXIM Halloween Party was a two-night spectacle held in cities like Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, and Houston. These parties brought together the crème de la crème of Halloween enthusiasts and transformed renowned venues into eerie wonderlands.

Los Angeles was treated to a mesmerizing set by the EC Twins, and the beats by DJ COOLWHIP had the dance floor going. The Nightingale Plaza in Los Angeles was the perfect venue for the spooky shenanigans. It was adorned with immersive lighting, and the sound production was bone-rattling. The event was a testament to the enduring appeal of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Fans of the game series, which has spawned countless jump-scare moments and a dedicated following, were given the chance to step into the shoes of the game’s protagonist, a night guard trying to survive a night surrounded by animatronic horrors.

Guests had the chance to pose with life-sized animatronic characters like Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. The lifelike details of the animatronics added an eerie touch to the snapshots, giving attendees a taste of the heart-pounding suspense to expect in the movie.

On October 5th, I had the pleasure of entering into the enchanting world of Lily Martinez’s “Siempre en mi Corazón” Catrina Costume Exhibit at the Gateway to Nature Center & Museum in Los Angeles. This opening marked the commencement of the Día De Los Muertos season. It was a captivating journey into the heart of Mexican Catrina culture, as seen through the eyes of a true native Angeleno.

As I strolled through the exhibit, I was immediately struck by the exquisite craftsmanship that graced every corner of the room. Each of the 25 Catrina costumes on display, handcrafted over the years by Lily Martinez, was a breathtaking testament to her dedication and passion. The attention to detail was nothing short of awe-inspiring, making me wonder how someone could create such intricate, delicate works of art. Each costume told a unique story, a vivid portrayal of the Catrina tradition that continues to thrive today.

Walking through “Siempre en mi Corazón,” it was clear that the entire exhibit was a love letter to the culture. The vivid colors, the elegant designs, and the genuine care in every piece resonated with the warmth and love with which this tradition is held. The atmosphere was more than just an art display; it was a celebration of life and a tribute to those who have come before us.

The crisp autumn air carries whispers of Halloween, and in Los Angeles, that means one thing: Halloween events galore. How do you decide which to go to? The one event that stands out for me, hands down, is Nights of the Jack. On Friday, September 29, I attended the grand opening of this breathtakingly immersive experience that celebrates the essence of Halloween.

The star of the night was undoubtedly the mile-long walking trail adorned with an enchanting array of hand-carved festival jack-o’-lanterns. The vibrant Halloween lights and themed scenes created a mesmerizing spectacle that appeals to visitors of all ages. As we walked around the trail, we were captivated by the creativity on display, from SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom to a touching tribute to Kobe. Each pumpkin was a work of art.

This year, Nights of the Jack introduced various interactive experiences that added a thrilling twist to the festivities. An AR scavenger hunt challenged attendees to “find Jack” and reap digital rewards. Digital carnival games, including axe throwing and jack-o’-lantern tossing, added to the excitement. But the crown jewel was the AR selfie stations featuring spooky backgrounds – the perfect way to capture the night’s memories.

Beyond the pumpkins, Nights of the Jack offered a cornucopia of attractions for visitors to savor. Expert pumpkin carvers brought pumpkins to life before our very eyes. Themed face painting delighted guests of all ages, turning them into Halloween creatures of their choosing. A resident psychic offered mystical readings, and a souvenir shop provided a chance to take home a piece of the magic.

Nights of the Jack is not just another Halloween event; it’s an experience that caters to everyone. Whether you’re seeking a family-friendly adventure or a unique date night, this is the place to be. The variety of food options and drinks kept us energized throughout our journey.

As I left the event, I couldn’t help but wonder if they would create a Christmas trail. If they do, consider me there. Nights of the Jack is a place where Halloween’s magic is celebrated and truly lived.

New York Fashion Week witnessed an awe-inspiring spectacle on September 11th as the Dennis Basso Spring-Summer 2024 show hit the runway.

The Dennis Basso brand has always been synonymous with the highest quality luxury goods. Nestled in the heart of New York City, the brand’s studio has been a hub of expert craftsmanship for decades. Meticulously handmade designs have always been the hallmark of the brand’s dedication to fashion, modernity, and innovation.

For the Spring-Summer 2024 collection, Dennis Basso drew inspiration from the enduring style, strength, and grace of great American families across generations. It was a tribute to the iconic women who personify American glamour – confident, free-spirited, and endlessly vivacious. The runway became a stage for these visions of modernity; poised and polished looks breezed through the runway.

The collection embraced occasion day dressing and special evening wear tailored for summer resorts and sunny winter havens. Silk chiffon, tweed, satin face organza, and embroidered lace draped the models, exuding elegance.
