Armando Guajardo Hosts Master Class on Perfecting Your Festival Makeup Look: Chic, Fabulous, and Fun Without Looking Overdone
Cosmetic and skin care company NARS recently released a plethora of new blushes, eyeshadows, highlighters, and lip duos for the spring and the upcoming festival season. Makeup artist Armando Guajardo kicked off a master class, highlighting the new products while using his motto, “Chic, fabulous, and fun without looking overdone.” He shared some tips and tricks on how to perfect one’s upcoming festival look.
Guajardo began the class hosted by W Hotels at the W New York – Downtown, by discussing how to craft a dewy skin look before debuting NARS’ new Wanted Cheek 2 blush palette, along with a set of new highlighting powders. He emphasized the importance of skincare and shared that “eye creams are very important for festivals,” as there is no better way to prevent dark under-eye circles than to keep one’s skin hydrated and Instagram-ready.
Moving on, Guajardo showcased NARS’ newest foundation, Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation, which retails at $49. This is a great fit for any festivalgoer as it is not too heavy and has an impressive 16-hour wear.
“Concealer is there to compliment, not distract,” Guarjardo stated about making sure not to use too much of the popular makeup product. The makeup guru then created what he described as “beach band” look by using colors Ambition and Taos from the Wanted Cheek 2 palette ($59).
Highlighting came last as Guajardo used new colors St. Bart’s and Ibiza by layering both highlighters to create some serious glow goals.
Speaking to Guajardo after the class, he discussed his thoughts on the latest spring trends and what his dos and don’ts are when crafting an iconic festival look.
“Less is more,” he shared, before reiterating how essential it is to make sure the right colors are being used. “Warmer colors can really make the eyes pop.”
For his absolute don’t, Guajardo shares, “No heavy black eyeliner. Imagine the lights go on and you look like a ghoul.”
He says that instead of using heavy black eyeliner, one should utilize jewel-toned greens, blues, and purples, or even some bright pastel colors for an eye-opening effect similar to the one he crafted during the master class.
