One thing spectators appreciate about fashion week is examining how designers are becoming more innovative. This idea can correlate with how creative they are when presenting their collections to the actual collections themselves.
One designer who truly stepped out of the ordinary is Anniesa Hasibuan. Bringing inspiration from her hometown Jakarta, this is the first collection ever to be shown during NYFW that revolves around hijabs.

I never realized how a person can diversify hijabs until I saw Anniesa’s SS17 collection descend down the runway. From flowy trousers to skirts featured in silk, lace, chiffon materials her pieces are sure to catch the eyes of onlookers.
The show consisted of 48 different looks, 10 of which were evening gowns and 38 were ready-to-wear pieces. Being the first designer to step-out-of-the box in such a way when it was time for Anniesa to take her turn on the runway she was received by a standing ovation.
With her being on the fashion scene for only a year she has a long future ahead with her accomplishing so much already. She is a true inspiration for designers trying break ordinary barriers of the industry.
