And The 2017 Tony Nominees Are…

Tuesday morning, bright and early, the 2017 Tony Nominees were announced at the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center. The air was full of excitement Tuesday morning, as journalists gathered to hear the elite list of actors, directors, choreographers, and incredible production members, that were chosen to be honored at the 71st Annual Tony Awards.

The 71st Tony Awards will take place June 11th, live from Radio City Music Hall. Last year, Hamilton ruled over the entire show, taking home over a dozen awards, and wining the coveted prize of Best Musical. This year, shows like Dear Evan Hansen, Falsettos, Hello, Dolly!, and Natasha, Pierre, And The Great Comet of 1812 were the favorites among audiences. Unsurprisingly, they each gained several nominations, including Best Musical, Best Revival of a Musical, and Best Actor/Actress in a Musical.

However, there were many productions from 2016 that were overlooked for this years award season. Only one Tony nomination went out to the newest musical on Broadway, Bandstand, while In Transit and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory racked up zero nominations.

For plays, Dolls House Part 2 gained a total of eight Tony nominations, including Best Director, Best Play, and Best Actor/Actress in a Play. The entire ensemble, consisting of Laurie Metcalf, Chris Cooper, Jayne Houdyshell and Condola Rashad, earned best acting nominations.

Below is the entire list of nominees for the 71st Annual Tony Awards. Who do you think will win on June 11th?
