Home to the most successful and legendary polo team White Birch, the Greenwich Polo Club remains a magnet of prestige from its players, and guests, to its historic teams, and games.
This Connecticut polo club continues to reign as the most elite, and dynamic internationally known Polo club around since 1981! Furthermore, the 2021 East Coast Gold Cup Final was nothing short of a spectacular game that kept its audience on the edge of their interactive seats!
This high goal tournament competition comprised of a point for point game between Altaris and Ellipse, the finalists of a six-team series resulting in Altaris winning the Gold Cup! Both teams showed amazing athleticism and toughness as there were a few ambulatory calls to the 300-yard field, a sprained ankle, and a rogue horse due to a fallen player. As if this gripping display of precision on horseback wasn’t enough, the game went into sudden death, also known as overtime. Onlookers were fully entertained as they lounged in their plush seats cheering for their favorite team, enjoying refreshments from local food vendors, catering from the Greenwich Kitchen, and some great words, incentives, rewards, and giveaways from sponsors like Barbados, HSS, AUDI, MACALLAN whisky, and Societe Generale.
In celebration of this Gold Cup victory, both players and viewers participated in a heartfelt awards ceremony and a display of sportsmanship and appreciation. The Most Valuable player professional award went to 16-year-old Milo Dorignac of Altaris, and his four-legged partner, while the Most Valuable Amateur player award went to Louis Devaleix of the Ellipse.
Keep an eye out, there is so much more to follow as The Greenwich Polo Club gears up for the East Coast open on August 29th 2021. For more information schedule and tickets visit: www.greenwichpoloclub.com
