At the Highline Stages in Chelsea, this Friday, Alice + Olivia’s much-anticipated Spring 2022 NYFW show opened its doors to influencers, designers, and fashion lovers alike. We joined the well-dressed crew for an evening filled with colorful clothing, floral displays and cocktails, and interactive pop-ups.
Guests donning neon blazers and mile-high pumps lined up along 14th street in the breezy evening air, buzzing with excitement about the upcoming show. Once vaccine cards were checked, reservations registered, and wristbands distributed, the doors opened to unveil an explosion of flowers, colors, and high fashion. Models stood in front of walls and pillars full of brightly colored flowers, decked out in color-coordinated outfits that celebrated the seasonal joie de vivre of spring. Alice + Olivia’s shows are always unique and creative, and this year’s fashion week show showcased the behind-the-scenes of designing our favorite looks.
The show’s theme, “Come Create With Us,” aimed to highlight the visionary women who bring to life the clothing admired all around the world. A departure from traditional fashion shows, Alive + Olivia’s presentation had the models and clothing serving as a backdrop to the creators, highlighted centerstage. Trish Andersen, Natalie Stopka, Mokshini, Justine Marjan, Grace Thomas, Samantha Urbani, and Bec Adams were some of the talented women featured at the show. In celebration of Alice + Olivia’s 20th anniversary, some of the brand’s most popular designs such as sexy statement pants and classic romantic prints were featured once again. Bold color dominated each display, from a blue-themed scene complete with silky dresses and hairstyling inlaid with floral
to a 70s-inspired tie-dye orange and green setup with maximal eastern prints and loose, braided looks. Dripping with grandiosity, the looks evoked Stacey Bendet’s original vision for the brand, one that remains just as relevant and captivating as it was two decades ago. The intersection of fashion and art highlighted at Alice + Olivia’s SS22 NYFW show offers the best of what creatives have to offer.
While guests enjoyed this innovative, refreshing experience, bubbly cocktails were served courtesy of Grey Goose and Chandon, and gem-shaped chocolates were passed around on platters. Bec Adams and Samantha Urbani lended their musical talents to the evening, and hip-hop dance trio led by Ebony Williams graced the center of the venue, pulling eager guests in to dance alongside them. Once attendees had their fill of gorgeous clothing designs, cocktails, and artistry, they could leave with personal hairstyling from TRESemmé Global Stylist Justine Marjan, and a beautiful water-marbled scarf created live by Natalie Stopka. Alice + Olivia’s NYFW shows are always legendary, and as someone attending her first fashion week show, I can definitely say it’ll be a night remembered forever.
