“God Bless DJ Khaled”
Rapper Ace Hood took a break from music to recharge, but now he is back. The Miami based artist held a listening event on Wednesday, at Platinum Sound Studios in New York City for his latest project titled, Trust the Process.
Ace broke down to the audience that legal troubles and self-discovery are what kept him away from putting out new music. His latest work, Trust the Process gives his fans an inside look at what his life has been like since he last put out music in 2015. Ace divulged to the audience what life was like for him during his hiatus and why he decided to part ways with DJ Khaled.
“I was spending time with me”, said the rapper. “I was trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to say, who I am and what I stand for.” Ace also opened said what he learned about himself while working on his project. “I learned that I am a man of discipline, focus and integrity.” “I’m a king and I treat others with respect,” said the Hustle Hard rapper. “But most importantly, I learned it is everything outside of the music industry that makes me whole.”
Ace started his career under DJ Khaled’s We The Best music label in 2009 but has since left to go independent. Khaled’s brand has grown exponentially since and while many have wondered why he would leave the Khaled powerhouse, Ace said it is something he had to do.
“God bless Khaled, we have been able to able to do such phenomenal things together,” said the Miami native. “I feel like people on the outside wanted us to feud but I decided to peruse this whole free artist thing, it wasn’t about Khaled’s career it was about mine.” The rapper said he has no regrets about stepping out from underneath DJ Khaled’s shadow. “I have a voice too and I want to speak to people.”
Ace Hood’s Trust The Process will be released August 21st. The evening was presented by Tito’s Vodka.
