During the 148th renewal of The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports one Louisville distillery tapped into the magic of the moment with an epic pre-race party.
On May 6, hundreds of attendees gathered at the divine Rabbit Hole Distillery for a night full of bliss and wonder. Before the Kentucky Derby the party downtown ignited hearts and imaginations at the themed soiree.
Kentucky Derby lovers hopped into the event that was part “Alice in Wonderland” nostalgia meets romance and sheer thrill of an adult fairy tale. Dancers jiggled across the dance floor and trapeze artists swung from long flowing red swings that hung from the rafters. The performers sang their heart outs as women buzzing with joy left – or happily lost in the wind – their flowered hats on sofas and men smoke cigars on the balcony.
The soiree of sipping included brilliant Rabbit Hole cocktails such as the Bee Bomb with Cavehill, Grapefruit, Clover Thyme Syrup, Honey Suckle and Bourbon Bitters; Cloud Pleaser with Liddel Vodka, Grand Marnier, Cranberry, Lemon and Cotton Candy Cloud; and the Cheshire Grin with Bespoke Gi, Genever, Lavender, Pea Flower and mint.
But the highlight of the night was the stunning showcase of premium Rabbit Hole Distillery releases with such sweet selections as the single barrel Heigold with 2021 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and the Boxergrail with 5 Grain Double Chocolate Malt Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. A few lucky guests even got to partake in the Founder’s Collection of Mizunara with 15 year Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in Japanese Mizunara Oak.
On a night filled with so much wild passion and topsy turvy magic it was only befitting that the next day another kind of fairy tale came true as Rich Strike made sports history at Churchill Downs and won it all.
