What’s white, a delight, and takes place all over?
One of the most highly anticipated and coveted events of the year is returning to New York for the seventh time. Dîner en Blanc is the world’s biggest pop-up white party, with 5,000 foodies and fashionistas slated to attend. On August 22, guests wearing head-to-toe white and carrying picnic supplies (tables, chairs, silverware, you name it!) will strut down the streets of New York. Where they’re headed, however, no one will know until the last minute, as the location is top-secret. After decorating their tables with candelabras and caged white doves, partygoers will wave their white linen napkins in the air, signifying the beginning of the party festivities.
Four-time James Beard winner Todd English will return to curate the New York dinner, while live music will keep guests dancing all night long. Last summer, over 45,000 people were on the wait list for this exclusive event. A cross between a flash mob and a pop-up, Dîner en Blanc has become a worldwide and cultural phenomenon and has taken place in over 79 cities across the globe. Based in traditional French court society standards and valuing color, style, and symmetry, the night is not only a high-end dinner party but a work of art.
