The singer brings a new sound to the table.
Bryson Tillerย released his sophomore album True to Self this past Friday. The release of the project came as a surprise to many as it was set to drop next month. Following the TRAPSOUL album that allowed Tiller to rise to fame, it seems that the singer made a shift in his artistry because this album is a big shift from the last one.
After listening to the album, it seems as if Tiller sort of went backward. Yes, he is still singing over trap beats, but the actual content of the music is what I would like to call a โhurt boyโ. His vocals arenโt breathtaking and the raps on this project havenโt really progressed from those on tracks like โ502 Come Upโ. He samples R&B from Mary J. Blige and SWV, but this album just isnโt it. Sorry, not sorry Bryson.
True to Self is available for streaming on Apple Music and Spotify. Take a listen for yourself and come to your own conclusions about the album. The project has 19 tracks, including the single โSomethin Tells Meโ. You can view the full tracklist and the video to the song below.
