Actress and singer Ruby Modine co-stars on the seventh season of Showtime’s “Shameless.” The season final is this Sunday. Be sure to tune in!

You were great this season on Shameless, were you a fan of the show before you joined the cast?

Ruby: Indeed I was. I actually had Shameless Sundays with some old friends. We were very committed to going and watching it every single Sunday with–somehow–coffee in hand, although it was a nighttime show. We would be very, very quiet; no one was allowed to speak throughout the entire episode; and then at the end of it, we would all recap the episode and talk about what had happened.

How does it feel to be a part of something that you so thoroughly enjoy?

Ruby: I feel extremely blessed, and I feel honored to be a part of such an amazing cast. I’m more thankful than anything.

Your character has a lot of scenes with Jeremy Allen White and Emmy Rossum. What was it like working with both of them?

Ruby: Incredible; they’re both just so good at what they do, and I’ve learned so much from both of them. It’s been wonderful, honestly. They both work in different ways, so to watch them and to be able to do a scene with them–like I said, I’ve learned so much.

Can you tell us about a favorite moment from set while filming this season?

Ruby: To be quite honest there have been so many, but I’ll try to pinpoint one. I would say that one of my favorite moments on set was when Emmy Rossum was directing an episode. I finally got to be on set with her, Jeremy Allen White, Cameron Monaghan, and Elliot Fletcher, and Emma and Ethan, so that was really amazing. We were all in Patsy’s Pies during the party scene, and it was a really great moment because it was the first time I got to be onset with all of them. That was definitely one of my favorite moments on set, just being  on set with all of them at the same time.

The material on the show is always a little racy and provocative. Did anything about the script ever intimidate you?

Ruby: It didn’t intimidate me, no, because I knew the show prior to being cast on it; I knew what I was walking into. There were times where I was reading the script and I was nervous, but it’s helpful to be working with such professional people on such a professional set–that takes the nerve away. There’s no intimidation on the set of Shameless.

Your character is almost like a little Fiona to me, how would you describe her?

Ruby: I would describe Sierra as a strong woman who knows what she wants–she wants to provide for her son. She has this set path that she wants to go down, and she’s not going to let anything sway her from it.

Where do you see her going in the future?

Ruby: I see her continuing to work at Patsy’s Pies because she seems to have found a solid place there, and she knows the job well. I see her–hopefully–staying away from Charlie, since he’s a little bit of an evil-entity, although he is correcting himself. It’s a good moment when you acknowledge that someone from your past is doing well. But yea, I see her doing well. Maybe–cause we never know with Shameless–she’ll continue working at Patsy’s, and hopefully her relationship with Lip will spark up again.

You and your Dad are both having kickass moments on TV this year, did you guys coordinate?

Ruby: That’s a phenomenal question! No, no we didn’t.

Are you sure?

Ruby: It’s by the grace of the universe, and we laugh about that all the time. That’s such a great question, though.

Lastly, can you tell us about your upcoming projects?

Ruby: I have two films coming out. Central Park is a horror movie about a group of teenagers that venture in the park to party. But (inevitably), will they escape question-mark?  Half to Death, directed by Christopher Landon and staring Jessica Rothe, is another film coming out. Coincidentally it’s another horror film, which is about a girl who keeps waking up after she dies. The film is about her trying to find out who’s killing her and why. Half to Death should be out around Halloween, I expect.
