Grammy Has Made A Major Change To Their Rules

Ch-ch-ch-changes… Thanks to that tweak Chance The Rapper and other unsigned artists now have a chance to win the music award.

According to a press release issued by the Recording Academy, streaming-only music will now be eligible for the Grammy Awards. The new guidelines open up the nominating field to “streaming-only” music that exists only on services with “paid subscription, full catalogue, [and] on-demand/limited download platforms.”

After the change is implemented any album on any streaming service, including Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music and more can enter the competition. However, any free mixtapes, unpaid music or SoundCloud albums will stay ineligible for the award.

This is extremely good news for artists such as Chance The Rapper who has been known and became popular in the mainstream for quite some time, but also kept releasing his music for streaming-only.

Following his highly successful collaborations with Kanye West, including “Ultralight Beam” from TLOP, and the release of the most recent album Coloring Book, Chance 3 is seemingly a perfect candidate for the Grammy nomination.

Shortly after the announcement from the Recording Academy, Chance tweeted: “I will bless the Lord, bless the Lord at all times.” Seems like someone’s hopes are up.

I will bless the Lord, bless the Lord at all times.
