Last Thursday at the American Natural History Museum, the red carpet premier of the Matthew Miele’s ‘Crazy About Tiffany’s’ took place. The upscale event featured a screening of the must see film followed by a cocktail reception.

After guests enjoyed the documentary featuring America’s first iconic brand, DJs AndewAndrew set a fun vibe while guests mingled over champagne and cocktails under Tiffany blue lighting. Later in the evening, Todd Pipes of Deep Blue Something serenaded us with an acoustic version of none other than “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. Notable guests in attendance included Lena Hall and Mike Piazza.

The Knockturnal was on red carpet to get the inside scoop. We had the chance to speak with executive producer, Clive Gershon, director, Matthew Miele and editor, Justin Bare. Check out our exclusive interviews below:

Clive Gershon, Executive Producer

Q: What was your favorite thing about producing the film?

Gershon: Telling an iconic story. Tiffany’s is a long established American institution, founded in 1837. People don’t know too much about it. They see the store of 5th Ave or on high street, but there’s so much history. It’s not just about a single engagement ring or a diamond. It’s an American institution and we wanted to tell that story.

Q: What was your favorite part of the film?

Gershon: Bringing the story out. The people that were involved, the people that like to shop there and why they like to shop there. Probably my favorite story is the story of the Tiffany diamond and one of the employees in the store wearing it as a tiara after the store was closed. It’s a secret that’s only revealed in the film.

Q: Can we expect a lot of other secrets?

Gershon: There are a lot of secrets. It’s well worth seeing.

Q: Do you have any personal collection to the brand that made you want to work on this film?

A: Apart from the fact that my family have all worn pieces of his jewelry, no. I was just fascinated by it as an organization and I wanted to know more about it.

Justin Bare, Editor

Q: Tell us a little bit about why you wanted to work on this film.

Bare: You know, I kind of fell into this. It wasn’t really something I would see myself doing, but I fell into it and it was great. It was kind of chance happening.

Q: What was your favorite part about the whole experience?

Bare: The access that Tiffany allowed us to have with the film. To be able to see $20 million dollar jewels, that kinda stuff.

–

Matthew Miele, Director

Q: Are you excited for tonight?

Miele: I am. It’s three years in the making so you know. A lot of films go through a much longer process, but this was three years of production.

Q: What was your favorite part about working on this film?

Miele: Probably that guy over there Todd Pipes of Deep Blue Something, the lead singer because you know that “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” song. We hit upon all the iconic things you know Audrey Hepburn and all  the way through the pop culture spectrum, so you figure out how Tiffany has impacted so much.

Q: What was your favorite part of the production process?

Miele: Finding out that Tiffany designed the New York Yankee insignia. I don’t know if anyone knows that, but it was like a hundred years ago and it obviously stayed, so it’s really iconic stuff. It’s hard to believe and this film reveals a lot of that.

Q: If there’s one thing that you want the audience to take away from the film, what do you want us to walk away with?

Miele: Probably that we are kinda giving you a peek behind the scenes. Tiffany’s has been very tight and very conservative about their image, a very manufactured image. For the first time, they are not only good subjects but good sports about allowing us to do this, and giving them a little kick in the tires about what they’ve done previously, but you know ultimately that they have stayed iconic.

Be sure to check out the film which is currently available on demand. You can check out our review of the film here.
