Today, Samsung unveiled their two newest smartphones, the Galaxy’s updated models: Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
While the S6 surely did not disappoint, there were still some battles left that the Galaxy had to fight against the most recent iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in order to win over the market. For the updated models, Samsung promises to give consumers what they want; a better camera, bigger battery, an updated display and a more refined design. The Galaxy S7 models are promised to have expandable storage, unlike the S6, which will offer more space to store videos, photos, music and more. The new models are also a bit slimmer, with the idea that users should be able to once again hold the phone in one hand. The Edge will also have a larger edge panel which allows for more space for apps to make it easier to select and swipe through different screens. The camera, which has been drastically losing to the iPhone’s camera is being updated on both models, with Samsung focusing on the main rear camera. This camera will be updated with a brighter Dual Pixel sensor, the first of its kind in a smartphone camera, for better low light pictures, which will capture 95% more light through a wider aperture and larger pixels to deliver brighter and sharper images. The S7 and S7 Edge auto focus on an image quicker and more accurately, allowing the capture of moments, even in dim light. This will allow less blur and 360 capabilities that allow you to capture the entire scenery/moment. The updates phones will also be water and dust resistant with the idea that the phone should be able to take on everything life brings to you, from workouts to rainstorms and accidental spills. The battery is also being upsized and upgraded with promises that you will be able to get all day use and half a charge in half an hour. The available colors have also been expanded. The phones will be available in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, and Silver Titanium.
The new phones will be available in the U.S. on March 11th, with pre-orders beginning February 23rd.
