Reaching for 72-10 or better…
The Golden State Warriors are now 39-4, with All-Star weekend approaching. This Warriors team is living up to the hype; also they are on track to making history. Throughout the season, critics and sports analysts are comparing the Warriors to the (1995-96) Chicago Bulls team.
At this time of the season, the Warriors and the Bulls had precisely the same records. It’s impressive to see a team shoot the ball so efficiently. They have a point differential of +12.1 thus far. Although the warriors are only ranked 18th amongst the NBA’s defenses, they still manage to win games.
It seem as if Stephen Curry is doing all of the labor, but I beg to differ. I understand he plays a huge role in their success but players such as Draymond Green (who is ranked top 5 in the NBA for the most triple-doubles thus far) Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, Leandro Barbosa, Harrison Barnes etc. all contribute to help the team win ball games. However, I do believe the attention Curry gets on a nightly basis make things easier for his teammates.
The Warriors are fortunate to have depth because it allows the starters to rest. Also, some of the players were former starters and franchise players (i.e. Andre Iguodala) on other teams. In other words they have experience to win back-to-back championships.
We’ll just have to wait and see because there’s a lot of basketball that remains
