Her special is called ‘Perfect’ and it is nothing less than perfect!
On Saturday, November 14, comedian, writer, and television host Nikki Glaser performed at the Gerald W Lynch Theater for her first ever hour long special called “Perfect” for Comedy Central. Ever since her first Half Hour special which aired in 2013, Nikki has proven that she is a great comedic talent. She has made appearances on shows such as Comedy Central’s @midnight, having won the show many times, Inside Amy Schumer, The Tonight Show, Last Comic Standing, and is even getting her own Comedy Central show, “Not Safe with Nikki Glaser” which will air in 2016.
Nikki is a big personality with a lot of things on her mind that she wanted to share that night ranging from her relationship with her boyfriend, to her family, to her sex life. Nikki has a great sense of humor and timing is what she does best with her performance. Considering she talked about things like weird fetishes, to wanting a surrogate to keep her body in tact and vagina in pristine condition, the timing of the punch lines was crucial. With Nikki, you think she’s going one place with her joke but then at the last second, under her breath, she says something that will take the joke to a completely different direction and make it 100x funnier.
No topic was off limits for Nikki and the way that she commanded the crowd with her charisma and charm helped the audience relate to her even more. But what makes Nikki one comic to definitely watch out for is how great her writing is. She is able to take some of the most uncomfortable of topics and make them funny and somehow relatable to the audience. What was probably one of the best and most relatable parts of her set was when she talked about never having any of her boyfriends say ‘I love you’ to her and how she tricks them into saying that phrase to her, something that most people can somewhat relate to (the not saying ‘I love you’ part, not the manipulation part).
Nikki is the type of comedian that likes to push the boundaries of what can be talked about and what is funny and with the strong set that she brought to the 2015 New York Comedy Festival, it is extremely evident that Nikki has the ability to make anyone, no matter who you are, laugh until your entire body hurts and you are at the point of passing out because you can’t breathe because the joke about her trying to have phone sex was just too funny.
This one hour special really let Nikki show the audience just who Nikki Glaser is and what she is made of and when this special airs on Comedy Central, it will definitely prove that she is, without a doubt, one of the most talented comedians out there.
