Broadway’s Hadestown breathes new life into the theater with an all-star cast featuring legendary Broadway performers and acclaimed big-screen talent.
Hadestown has called the Walter Kerr Theatre home since spring 2019, captivating audiences and winning the hearts of fans around the world. Jasmin Savoy Brown takes on the role of Eurydice, bringing fresh energy and a captivating sound to the iconic character. With her remarkable vocals and emotional depth, Brown delivers a powerful performance that draws audiences into the heartbreaking love story at the heart of this Greek mythological tale. Known for her roles in the Emmy-nominated series Yellowjackets and the hit horror franchise Scream, Brown has established herself as a compelling presence on the big screen. However, the actress revealed that Broadway has long been a dream of hers. Now making her Broadway debut, Brown brings that passion to the stage, delivering a performance that showcases her versatility and leaves nothing behind.

“I really didn’t see it coming. I had this has been my dream forever to be on Broadway. Hadestown had asked me to audition three times over the course of a year and a half, and I said no every time, because my imposter syndrome was just so loud and was like, you’re not ready, you’re not good enough, blah, blah. So I finally said yes. It was one of the coolest days of my life,” said Jasmin Savoy Brown.
Joining Jasmin Savoy Brown on stage as Persephone is Tony Award nominee Amber Iman, who delivers a commanding performance that is nothing short of unforgettable. Iman explodes onto the stage with a portrayal of the goddess that, quite frankly, lives rent-free in my head. Her rendition of “Our Lady of the Underground” is a showstopper, captivating the audience and leaving them wanting more.

She portrays a goddess who boldly challenges Hades while revealing the vulnerability and heartbreak beneath her powerful exterior. “I’m just really trying to tell the truth. I’m trying to be honest. I’m trying to ride the roller coaster, not get ahead of it, not get behind it. And I’m really just living in a place of. She’s sick of her husband. She’s sick of foolishness. She’s sick of lies. This is her moment at the microphone, and it’s like it’s a cracking open. That kind of happens. It’s slow. And then once it’s open, like she’s never going back to that place again,” said Amber Iman.

With a career spanning both stage and screen, Norbert Leo Butz returns to Broadway to take on the iconic role of Hermes. Bringing his own unique interpretation to the legendary character, Butz draws inspiration from his childhood and his upbringing in the church. Reflecting on the pastors and ministers who shaped his early years, the acclaimed actor infuses Hermes with the warmth, charisma, and storytelling spirit of a preacher. This distinctive influence gives his portrayal a captivating quality, drawing audiences in from the very first moment he begins to tell the timeless tale of Orpheus and Eurydice.
“What I specifically thought about with Hermes was that my my, my mother was the devoutly religious woman and took us to church constantly. And so I was raised listening to preachers and pastors and ministers my whole life. And some of them work a little sketchy, but some of them actually had really good intentions and were full of charisma and the natural ability to tell stories, to communicate really effectively, to project a sense of strength. And, and that reminded me of Hermes. And so also the showmanship, the showmanship of the of the preacher. And so I’ve tried to bring some of that energy into just because it’s what I was raised with. Its that’s what I specifically can bring to the part is a kind of Southern Baptist preacher energy, because that was the world I’m from,” said Noberto Leo Butz.
Joining these three heavy hitters are American Idol alum and pop-rock artist-songwriter Kayko, alongside Broadway powerhouse Ben Davis, who recently concluded his run as Father in Ragtime. Together, the newest additions to Hadestown bring a fresh wave of passion, energy, and artistic depth to this beloved Broadway production.
