Angel’s Envy celebrated its newest limited release with an intimate pairing evening downstairs at Sip & Guzzle, recently named the Best Bar in North America 2026.
On Thursday, Sept. 24, a small group of guests gathered at Sip, the lower-level bar at 29 Cornelia St. in New York City, to toast the launch of Cellar Collection Vol. 6 Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Peach Brandy & Toasted Oak Barrels. Master Distiller Owen Martin guided the tasting himself, giving the room a behind-the-scenes look at how the whiskey came together.

The process is as ambitious as the name suggests. The rye was aged between eight and 11 years, then split so some components rested 15 to 23 months in peach brandy barrels while others spent six to 12 months in toasted oak. It marks the first time a Cellar Collection whiskey has gone through two separate finishing stages.
The result is one of the most inviting ryes of the season. The nose opens bright with candied peach and syrup, touched by soft baking spice, before the palate brings ripe orchard fruit, vanilla cream, caramel and clove that call to mind a warm cobbler with ice cream. The finish then shifts from dessert-like sweetness into peppery rye.
Martin guided guests through a lineup of different Angel’s Envy whiskeys, each matched with its own custom bite. The tasting opened with a pour bursting with peach, a bright, juicy start that set the tone for the night. From there, every whiskey and bite complemented each other beautifully. A rich cheese tarte stood up well to the spirits’ spice and depth, and fried shokupan filled with almond cream made for an indulgent finale. The whiskeys were the stars of the evening, but the food showed how naturally they belong at the dinner table.
Sip’s bartenders rounded out the night with custom cocktails inspired by the flavors of Cellar Collection Vol. 6, giving guests another way to experience the release.
Fans won’t have long to wait for a bottle. About 36,000 bottles will roll out nationwide starting Oct. 9, 2026, at a suggested retail price of $199.99. The rye is bottled at 106.4 proof. Learn more at Angel’s Envy.
