Victor De Souza brought a sense of historical romance to New York Fashion Week with his Spring/Summer 2027 collection, presented at Arlo Hotel in Midtown Manhattan on September 11, 2026.
Known for his theatrical approach to fashion, De Souza combines couture craftsmanship, sculptural silhouettes, dramatic color and unexpected materials. His latest collection leaned heavily into romantic, historical influences while still feeling bold and modern. From feathers and oversized hats to Victorian-inspired collars and dramatic ballgowns, the runway felt like stepping into another era.
Here are five standout trends and details from the collection:
Feathers were everywhere throughout the collection, adding texture, movement and plenty of drama. De Souza used them across different looks in ways that made even the most structured pieces feel soft and theatrical.

Feathers, Feathers and More Feathers
Tailoring took on a more romantic feel throughout the collection. Structured silhouettes were paired with softer details, creating looks that felt polished without losing the theatrical quality that made the collection stand out. Structured shoulders, double-breasted jackets, trousers, all paired with ruffles, bows, florals, flowing fabrics and pastels to bring in that feminine / masculine balance.

Romantic Tailoring
The Victorian style theme ran pretty strong throughout the collection, but Victorian Style neck collars primarily grabbed our attention. Some appeared in the shape of loose ruffles around the neck while others sported completely separate and more structured neck collar accessories. It begs the question… is neckwear in the near future??
The ballgowns were some of the most dramatic looks of the collection, with oversized silhouettes that seemed to get bigger as the show went on.
De Souza also looked to an unexpected source for inspiration with one of the gowns, drawing from New York City garbage. The result turned something ordinary from the city streets into something completely unexpected on the runway. He also closed the show with one of his newest wedding dresses.

Ballgowns that got bigger and bigger
The accessories were just as dramatic as the clothing, especially the hats. From oversized shapes to more unusual silhouettes, the headpieces added another layer of personality to the collection. Many if not all included the use of dramatic feathers.
A close friend of De Souza’s at the show described him as one of the hardest-working designers they know, often hand-stitching pieces late into the night. That attention to detail was visible throughout the collection, with each look feeling carefully constructed and finished. He claimed that this work is just about the closest you can get to vintage couture nowadays.
Celebrity guests were also in attendance, including Jean Shafiroff, who arrived wearing a custom pastel pink Victor De Souza gown.
