James Callis, Shaul Metzstein & Nick Mohammed Talks ‘Slow Horses’ Season 5 at New York Comic Con

During New York Comic Con 2025, we caught up with the cast and creative team behind Slow Horses, Apple TV+’s sharp, witty, and unflinchingly human spy series, to talk about the upcoming fifth season.

Known for its mix of espionage thrills and biting humor, the show continues to lean into everything fans love: layered characters, unpredictable twists, and that signature British cynicism that keeps it grounded even as the stakes get higher.

Showing up at New York Comic Con this year meant a lot for the Slow Horses team. With the show becoming one of Apple TV+’s most acclaimed dramas, being at NYCC gave everyone involved the space to celebrate how far it’s come and tease what’s next. The energy at the convention was the perfect match for a show like Slow Horses, where humor and tension go hand in hand, and the crowd’s enthusiasm made it clear just how much people care about these characters. It also gave the creators a rare opportunity to talk about the heart of the series, including themes of redemption, loyalty, and the price of failure in a system that doesn’t make it easy to bounce back.

Season 5, which adapts London Rules, the fifth book in Mick Herron’s acclaimed series, has taken a darker turn as the story unfolds. The Slough House team finds themselves racing against time after a string of attacks hits London right in the middle of a heated mayoral campaign. What started on a lighter note quickly turns into a tense, high-stakes fight for survival.

We spoke with director Saul Metzstein and cast members James Callis and Nick Mohammed about what’s ahead for their characters and how this season pushes everyone to their limits. One of the biggest shocks this season involves Christopher Chung’s Roddy Ho, who starts off happily dating a new woman, only to find out she’s part of a terrorist cell. The fallout from that twist leads to multiple deadly attacks targeting the young tech genius, putting both him and Slough House in danger.

Meanwhile, MI5’s “Dogs” are circling, tightening their grip as investigations ramp up and tensions rise inside the agency. With only three episodes left, fans can expect more tension, dark humor, and emotional punches as the story races toward its finale.
