Africa on Demand was the event that kicked off the Summer with a bang! With beautiful weather, nice tunes, and cocktails to enjoy, AOD, was where you needed to be.

The annual event took place at the Ainsworth in New York City on Saturday, May 21st. The event featured sounds ranging from Afropop, Afrohouse, classic Afrobeats hits, Amapiano, and so much more! Curated by DJ Buka, it was a goal to ensure he was bringing a joyful experience to this afrobeats-themed party.

In a night dedicated to making you move, the event also featured an elite DJ line-up of afrobeats enthusiasts known as DJ Mohogany, DJ Bundu, T-Mings, Dave O, DJ Buka himself, and an entertaining host, Petahjay!

With afrobeats present in many entertainment spaces now, the push to continue the advancement of the genre is one that is important. ”We’re at the forefront,” said Buka. “It’s actually a mission. It’s a mission to keep pushing further.“

During his time on set, DJ Buka also presented the party with the emerging sounds of Amapiano from South Africa. “I hope to put those who aren’t really familiar with the outside genres of African music.” “I want to put them on to something a little different – a different type of vibe.” Buka said. From calm to upbeat tunes, like “Sungba” Remix, (by Asake ft Burna Boy) DJ Buka knew exactly what vibes were needed to have the party going all night. The turnout was an absolute success! Afrobeats is indeed the future and AOD proved this. It exposed the rich culture and art deeply rooted within the diaspora and those dedicated to bringing it forward.
