Tommy Egan is back in the Powerverse with his own series Power Book IV: Force. We last saw him on the season one finale of Power Book II: Ghost as he and Tariq parted ways. Now that Tommy is on his own, he is out for blood.

Before I go into detail, I have to say that I love the tone and setting of Force. The three Powerverse shows (Original, Raising Kanan, and Ghost) all take place in different parts of New York City. Force takes place in the windy city of Chicago during the winter. I’ve been to Chicago hundreds of times so I felt the atmosphere on the show. Especially when Tommy makes a joke about the ridiculous parking in that city.

Speaking of Tommy Egan, his charismatic self is on full display again with great one-liners and a brutal action sequence that made my jaw drop. Joseph Sikora has a unique presence on screen and I can say that he was truly missed as it has been almost a full year since we last saw him. There are a few things that we find out during his visit to Chicago. He has a grandmother that resides in a nursing home. Tommy Egan also has a brother named JP as they meet for the first time towards the end of the first episode of Power Book IV: Force. I must say that this is a brand new world for Tommy Egan to explore.

Gloria (Gabrielle Ryan) had scenes with Tommy and from the start, they have good chemistry. There is also a slight mention on her backstory. But you will have to find out what it is. Sons of Anarchy alum Tommy Flanagan plays as Walter Flynn, the father of Claudia Flynn (played by Lili Simmons). It seems like Walter is the main antagonist of  the first season as he orders Tommy to leave Chicago after a bad drug deal takes place. Tommy will not leave Chicago and I am intrigued to see what happens next.

Overall, Power Book IV: Force is a welcome addition to the Power franchise. The first episode establishes that Tommy is trying to reinvent himself from his past. He wants to begin doing things his own way. Let’s see how he can do this in the coming episodes. The upcoming stories with him and the rest of the characters caught my interest. Tommy Egan is back and everyone should be afraid!
