Singer and songwriter Charlie Farley has been striving for success as he releases new music with a country and hip-hop sound to impact all people. The Knockturnal spoke with Charlie about his music and his career.

The Knockturnal: What inspired you to create “Quotable”? What’s your favorite Quote and why?

Charlie Farley: I was inspired to create Quotable by accident to be honest, lol. I just started by posting some inspirational and uplifting quotes on Facebook. I was tired of seeing nothing but negativity online and decided to try making a difference. It really took off and I made the “Quotable” book. Now, it’s just steadily growing. I can’t say that I have a favorite quote because each day is different. I will say that I lean more toward any quote that has something to do with never giving up on your dreams.

You can check the website out at www.quotablebycharlie.com

The Knockturnal: What was it like releasing a five-song ep?  Please explain the process and what the songs are about?

Charlie Farley: It is always SUPER exciting to release new music, but even more so with “B.F.E.” because I went back to what made me, me. There was a good period of time when I had put myself in a box with my music. Every time I would write, I would question myself. I’d wonder if the songs would sell and I’d re-write them over and over. This time, I deleted every social media app I had off my phone, changed my phone number, and didn’t talk to anyone other than a few close friends and family members for three months. I got back to what made me unique. A pad, a pen, and an idea. I wrote day after day. I quit caring about what anyone might think or say. I never re-wrote one line. Every song is real, raw, and straight from the heart. Each of the five songs are a testament to the life I’ve lived in SouthWest Arkansas.

The Knockturnal: Would you say there is a difference between singing and rapping? If you are nervous, how do you channel your inner swag?

Charlie Farley: There is definitely a difference between singing and rapping. For me personally, it takes more controlled breathing/technique to sing. When I’m rapping, it’s more just about cadences.

I rarely get nervous now. When I used to get nervous all the time, I turned that nervousness into energy and used it to my advantage on stage.

The Knockturnal: How has  Arkansas impacted your career?

Charlie Farley: I wouldn’t be me without Arkansas. I’ve been all over the country thanks to the “ClikFam” and music. I’d never live anywhere else. Home is definitely where my heart is, was, and always will be. Arkansas molded me into a man of morals, values, and respect. People talk about how backwards we are, however, I’m the one that grew up on Hip Hop and Country, molded the two together because of my love for both and now have so many people “hating” me in the comment sections for it……..so, tell me who’s backwards? It also taught me to call it like I see it, even if that means pissing some people off. So, when it comes to me and Arkansas, we are one and the same.

The Knockturnal: Where do you see your musical career 5 years from now? What goals have you set?

Charlie Farley: I believe in goals. I believe in dreams. However, the one thing I believe in more than both of those is hard work. So rather than setting a goal, I get up and work every single day. Where that takes me, is where I will end up. God willing, stadiums.

The Knockturnal: How can fans connect with you on social media and download your music?
