Music artist, Saint Germain, better recognized as Saint has blessed the microphone with his imperial lyrics for quite some time in the underground music industry. This Brooklyn native also studied Business Management and Marketing at Long Island University and keenly used his skills throughout his life as an artist and businessman.
A charismatic force of nature, Saint initiated his career from being a poet to catapulting into an uncanny musician where his personality and music merged his smooth and gritty behavior. During his poetry writing era, Saint’s career outlook shifted 180 degrees. A friend of his suggested he turn his poetry into rap music, so he did and never looked back. This boundless artist’s music ranges from one mood to the next depending on the energy space he embodies during his inspiration sessions leading him to produce lyrics that display his Jekyll and Hyde alter ego-personality. One moment, he can be lost in sorrow, and the next, he may be cheerful and optimistic.
Music has encompassed a bulk, if not, most of Saint’s life. His record, “Violent Rose”, is one of his most prolific songs he has released so far. Matt Diana is featured on it. The song is available on all major streaming music platforms. Saint wasn’t always just a musician. He’s created lifestyle content for several brands, he’s a stylist and has continued writing poetry. Aside from juggling different roles, he also maintains a 9 to 5. As one seriously dedicated and relentless artist, Saint looks forward to working with a cast of greats in the near future.
Although the industry has been ever-changing since Saint entered it, social media has made it more accessible for well-known artists to spot up-and-coming as well as underground artists like slick-talking Saint. He is ready to open some shows and collaborate with music G.O.A.T.S to make explosive quality music for his audience. With the right eyes on him, Saint will attract the attention of fine producers and managers as he continues making his mark in the music industry by creating eargasm lyrics.
We caught up with Saint to talk music, his new track “Violent Rose,” and so much more.
The Knockturnal: How has rap changed your life?
Saint Germain: Rap has given me an outlet to express my feelings, and point of view on various topics. It’s helped me to build confidence and given me the ability to reflect and deep delve on subject matter. But its also been my therapeutic release in creative writing.
The Knockturnal: How has Brooklyn influenced your music?
Saint Germain: Growing up in New York has influenced my music, but being born and raised in Brooklyn has made me tough. It’s a little of where that bully comes from in my tone.
The Knockturnal: With being a poet first how would you describe your creative process?
Saint Germain: I write my music different than I write poems. With poems, I just write the 1st word or feeling that comes to me, than I just go from there. Its almost freehand for me with poems, but with music, there’s a thought process behind it, there’s different angles of approach, as to how I want to come off/start on a record. Sometimes I may write to a beat on spot, other times I may already have something written and I’m looking for a track that matches the vibe/energy/mood of what I’ve written. I don’t have a one set process to writing music, it always changes.
The Knockturnal: How has it been creating music during this pandemic?
Saint Germain: Unhindered. My process during the pandemic has been peaceful and thorough in terms of thought when it comes to penning what I want to say.
The Knockturnal: What was the inspiration behind ‘Violent Rose’?
Saint Germain: ‘Violent Rose’ was about the loss of a loved one, trying to figure out how it reached its climactic ending and through it, all, trying to see if there’s any possibility to salvage and work through a toxic period. It’s about fighting for love and realizing that it takes two to make something work. 50&50 = 100, 50 is just 50, and even though you have one person doing 75%, it still doesn’t get you to 100
The Knockturnal: Talk about collaborating Matt Diana?
Saint Germain: Matt Diana is a star. When I think of raw talent, I think of Matt, his voice touches you. Before collaborating with Matt, when it was just me, my words, and the beat, I knew I had a good record. But when Matt jumped on it, even from the intro. of the song, when he starts harmonizing I got goosebumps… I still get goosebumps when I play the record and hear Matt’s part. But by the time he finished with the record, he took the sound and quality of the song to another level. We actually have two records together, this one (‘Violent Rose’) and another record called “Pain”

Saint Germain: You can expect to hear more music from me soon. I’m motivated.
