WYLD FLWR blurred the lines between exhibition and attraction with their launch party celebrating theΒ Wyld Ting 2020 Collection held at the Museum of Sex on Tuesday, February 4.
Drawing inspiration from being βwyld and freeβ, the new line offers sequin capelets and beaded fringe kimonos reminiscent of burlesque dreams.
Super Funland: Journey into the Erotic Carnival presented a historical exploration of the carnivalβs sexual roots β questing from bacchanalian origins to its progression in pre-industrial Europe, leading up to the βmidwayβ of the 20th centuryβs great Worldβs Fairs βΒ detailing ways sex has impacted cultures and been embraced by forms of media and entertainment.
Comprised of four galleries, Super FunLand features sexually-charged amusements and 13 original commissions created by the worldβs most exalted artists and designers such as Bompas and Parr, Droog, Rebecca Purcell, SnΓΈhetta, and more.
Highlights of the museum include a room full of webcam culture with black and white videos of nudity and pioneering technology. A kaleidoscopic walkway β inevitable to be channeled as a model catwalk and social media photo op. Guests are immersed by carnival vibes with claw game machines with genitals and other body elements casted as prizes, bouncy castle of breasts and a fortune teller installation voiced by legendary drag queen RuPaul.
Another notable mention is the vibrant climbing structure guiding visitors to a two-story slide that travels into the Museumβs carnival bar dubbed the Lollipop Lounge; accompanying a stripper pole and clad performers in the collectionβs new pieces to entice your contemporary experience (rounds of specialty cocktails).
