HBO Sets ‘Sharp Objects’ to Bloom for guests at the Bowery Hotel

In anticipation of the new hit mini-series, Sharp Objects, the Bowery Terrace is turned inside out with flowers.

The iconic book, now turned to film, creeps and crawls like a nightmare that just won’t stop until it has consumed your imagination with…flowers! As if they had grown out of the wallpaper from the show’s main house (a large southern estate haunted by Amy Adams‘ darkest memories) and set their ever-expanding leader roots into this East Village luxury lounge, guests enjoyed drinks in an overgrown garden of mystery and secrets.

Flowers riddle the projector screen.

Outside of the Terrace, which you may have been lucky enough to see if you were walking along Bowery between 7-11pm, sat an old car completely overtaken by the same roses, carnations, and perennials that equally overflowed throughout the venue’s interior, and the entire theme of the party. Guests and passerby’s each had their photo opportunity with this lush arrangement that seemed to be a clever eulogy of abandoned memories – which Amy’s character forces herself to recollect.

Personal Bouqets for all guests…

Guests were even encouraged to create their own bouquet, a crowd favorite as couples picked and decided between flowers of their choosing, leaving a trail of sweet fragrance throughout the patio and screening room as almost everyone ended up with ephemeral beauties, soon to wither after the passing of this most lovely moment.

Doll House as seen in HBO’s new Sharp Objects

The party was filled, as an HBO party would be, with some of New York’s classiest and well-dressed crowds, flaunting French accents and velvet designer shoes, making it seem like your favorite celebrity was about to make an appearance… But the night wasn’t about the stars, the producers, or to spotlight any of the show’s collaborators on red carpets, or by talkback. Instead, HBO skillfully plants the seed of this show’s creepy excellence in the mind of an unsuspecting audience of press and industry friends before it takes full bloom before the public this July 9. Until then, the roots are spreading far and wide, just barely wrapping its vines under your feet as it manifests into the beautiful mini-series that is to be, Sharp Objects.
