Beauty Chat: Get To Know Vow Beauty Creator Tangie Griffin

We sat down with vegan skin-care brand creator and practicing attorney Tangie Griffin.

The vegan based skin-care brand first caught our eye with its inviting packaging. These formulations are targeted at alleviating serious adult skin-care issues.

Tangie’s interest in the beauty biz first began when she was visiting her dermatologist in her late 20s as a pre-emptive strike against the onset of hyperpigmentation and fine lines. We caught up Tangie at BeautyCon in New York City 2018.

The Knockturnal: What inspired you to create Vow Beauty?

Tangie Griffin: I was unsatisfied with existing product offerings in the “active ingredient skincare” space. Specifically, I found that the products failed to truly address common skin care concerns (such as hyperpigmentation), were overpriced and contained ingredients that had questionable reputations in the skincare industry.

The Knockturnal: What makes Vow Beauty unique?

Tangie Griffin: Our formulations. Our ingredient lists are simple, short, packed with natural skin brightening and graceful aging ingredients, and as close to natural in most instances as you can get! The products are pH balanced and also fragrance, dye, phthalate, alcohol, paraben, and cruelty-free.

#Repost @bethanyspretties (@get_repost) ・・・ It’s Skincare Sunday! Today, I’m ecstatic to introduce you to an adorable brand that I believe you are unquestionably going to see more of! Isn’t this packaging just darling? What I loved even more was each @vowbeauty product is named with a wedding type theme, like the For Better…or Even Better 20.5% Vitamin C Serum and the Something Borrowed, Something BHA 2% Toner. Top this all off with no alcohols, parabens, phthalates, or dyes, and being leaping bunny ? friendly, and they totally had me in love! ??? Check out my blog post today (link in bio) to hear more about this brand, and don’t forget to follow my blog, because I’m always discussing brands that you want to know about, talking about skincare issues that affect all of us, and throw in a little surprise here and there. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! – – – – – – – #cutepackaging #cutepackagings #cutepackagingsucker #skincare #skin #vowbeauty #weddingtheme #weddingfavors

The Knockturnal: What is your favorite product from your collection?

Tangie Griffin: Difficult question (I love them all!) but as my biggest skincare concern is oily/ acne prone skin and fine lines the Something Borrowed…Something BHA 2% Toner has been a lifesaver for me!

The Knockturnal: With first impressions being so important, what do you want people to take from your products just by looking at them?

Tangie Griffin: That skincare can be fun! Typically, acid-based skincare products are presented in a very “clinical” manner (e.g dropper bottles with muted colors). Our packaging was purposefully designed to be fun and engaging.

The Knockturnal: What is the concept behind the name Vow Beauty?

Tangie Griffin: Our tagline is “…it’s a commitment!”- with the “it” being a skincare routine. Conceptually, Vow Beauty asks its customer to commit  (or take a “vow”)  to consistently apply our products for maximum benefits.

The Knockturnal: What is the biggest misconception about anti-aging products?

Tangie Griffin: That anti-aging products are only for women of a certain age. Prevention is key as skin begins to produce less collagen by 1% every year after age 20. The sooner a woman starts to prioritize skincare…the better!

The Knockturnal: What advice would you give to someone who is having problems with their skin?

Tangie Griffin: The internet offers a wealth of information on skincare but the best diagnosis for those with very troubled skin will always come from a trained professional (a dermatologist!) as skin issues may stem from internal factors that the topical application of a cream or serum cannot fix.

The Knockturnal: Where do you see Vow Beauty in 5 years?

Tangie Griffin: Hopefully aligned with multiple national retail chains for distribution and available globally for purchase.

The Knockturnal: What’s next for Vow Beauty?

Tangie Griffin: We’re exhibiting at Project Beauty Expo in New York in August and by year’s end we hope to release a SPF moisturizer, a 10% Niacinamide based facial moisturizer and a 10% Glycolic Acid facial gel. We also will introduce a rewards point system for repeat customers.

The Knockturnal: Where can we find Vow Beauty?

Tangie Griffin: Vow Beauty products are currently available on www.vow-beauty.com, amazon.com, and ipsy Shopper.
