The rain did not discourage friends and supporters of Boys and Girls Club of Bellport NY to come out and kick off the 2016 Summer Beach Ball event to raise funds for the coming year.
Hosted at Ken and Amy Pollinger’s charming apartment in Chelsea, the event was warm and lively, Hosted by Alexandra Lebenthal and Jay Diamond, drinks were served as well as light snacks. Sybil Mimy Johnson, executive director of the club thanked guests for attending and introduced the Youth of the Year Christina Colas and the Youth of the Month Cameron Trent so that guests could see how their donations are directly affecting the young people of Bellport. Christina said, “[Thanks to] B&GC for introducing me to so many opportunities and tap into what I already have.” Cameron said that, “the club had inspired me throughout my life and helped me achieve so much.” He continued to say, “I have big goals and without the B&GC I wouldn’t have graduated high school, gone to college or been able to run for the Board of Education.” This stunning development is a testament to the power of community groups that enrich and enhance life. Guests included America’s Next Top Model alumni Xiomi Frans-Cuber, R. Couri Hay, and Bruce Pask, Men’s Fashion Director at Bergdorf Goodman.
